James Bond Casting Is Underway

James Bond casting is underway! It’s been revealed to us that the franchise’s producers have started the casting process, and it’s been a very, very long time coming. There has been all sorts written about who will get to play the iconic British secret agent next on the big screen. There are so many names in the mix. However, I have a feeling that none of the ones mentioned in the betting odds will end up getting the much-coveted role.

According to a source who wished to remain anonymous, the movie’s producers have got the casting process for the next Bond underway. It does seem a bit late, but it seems as though they want to make sure that they get the next movie right. There’s also been the whole Amazon takeover of MGM Studios that’s maybe delayed things a bit. MGM Studios owns the James Bond movie rights, and the franchise is now owned by Amazon after they acquired the iconic Hollywood movie studio.

Anyway, we were informed that casting for the next 007 has just begun. Here’s what our source had to say on the matter:

They have finally started looking at actors for 007. The casting process has begun.

We did ask if there were any early names in the ring to be the next James Bond. However, our source was unable to give us any information on that front. It has to be said that almost every British actor under the age of 40 has been tied to the role. However, the ones that are currently leading the pack are the likes of Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Regé-Jean Page, Henry Cavill, James Norton and Aidan Turner are names that are at the top of the list as far as the next James Bond actor betting odds are concerned.

However, I’m pretty certain that the actor that will end up being cast in the role won’t be as well known as any of those names. We were actually informed by our source that they are “casting the net large and wide” as far as this casting process is concerned. This means that they basically want to see every possible actor under the sun for the role. This is exactly how they should do it. They need to find the perfect person for the role.

Will the next 007 be a white male in their thirties?

One of the main questions I had about the role was whether the next actor to play the role be a white male in their thirties. Well, it seems as though the producers are actually quite interested in casting someone who isn’t a – as our source put it – “a white thirtysomething male”. This makes me think that the Bond producers are looking to modernise the franchise. People have been very open to the idea of Idris Elba playing the role, and I have a feeling that it might be time to have a black actor play the role.

That said, if they do end up casting an actor who’s not a white male in his thirties, then I know that the Internet will go bananas for a few days. I mean, look at what happened when the recent trailer for the upcoming live-action Little Mermaid was released. Something very similar would happen should they announce that the next actor to play Bond is a black man. However, I’m sure that it’ll all die down after a few hours (or maybe days). But, it will die down, and I know that the producers will do everything they can to ensure that they’ve cast the right person for the role.
