Jack Black Wants Pedro Pascal As Wario In Super Mario Bros 2

Perhaps Jack Black found Pedro Pascal to be such a happy chap to work with that he now says Pascal could be Wario if a Super Mario Bros 2 happens (which is definitely will).

Pedro Pascal has truly been on a roll since his Game of Thrones days. Almost immediately, he won the hearts of many fans of the fantasy drama series, only to break their heart on his watermelon head scene. Sorry. He really should have worn a helmet.

After that, were numerous projects for television and movies which include Netflix’s Narcos, Wonder Woman 1984, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and The Last Of Us. And speaking of helmets, Pascal has been even more endearing to fans as Din Djarin, who now, thanks to Season 3, doesn’t get to remove his helmet in The Mandalorian.

Interestingly, Jack Black just recently made an appearance in the newest season of The Child Grogu’s chosen father figure. Despite the unfavourable reception he was receiving from a number of fans, it was evident that School of Rock‘s Dewey Finn enjoyed his time during the production.

So much so that he brewed the idea in his mind that Pascal would make a nice addition to the cast if ever there’d be a sequel to Super Mario Bros.

GameSpot reveals that Jack Black believes that if there ever were a Super Mario Bros 2 movie, doing the Wario arc would be great and even better if they cast Pedro Pascal for the role. The movie that is now considered to be a love letter to generations of fans of the famous Italian plumber brothers could likely have a sequel. In a recent interview, he said:

You know, what if there is a more powerful, more evil villain? Then I may need to be turned to help Mario and the rest to defend our universe against some other unseen force of evil. Are you thinking what I’m thinking?

Wario. Pedro Pascal is Wario.

This immediately hooked fans with comments that said it wasn’t a bad idea. Add to the fact that Pascal has also had his time as Mario in SNL’s Mario Kart with a twist just this February, and it wasn’t really hard to imagine. And perhaps that was also one of the reasons why Black was also down with the idea.

As movie ventures go, a sequel or a spinoff is inevitable if the project racks in at least three times its production budget during its run. If the multiplier is more than that, then a follow-up venture is sure to be expected. Lo and behold, Nintendo, Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment got the movie that already overperforms at $378M worldwide from a $100M budget in just one week.

It’s even ended up in the number 1 spot in the Top 2023 Theater Average at the Domestic Box Office. It took the lead by a $40M gap from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. With Mario’s numbers and current box office legs, John Wick 4 would be no match.

Even in terms of the first-weekend record of all time, Mario takes the 32nd spot, and John Wick 4 isn’t anywhere in the first 100. Ant-Man 2 got ranked #68, though.

It won’t surprise me if there is a sequel to this phenomenal movie based on a video game. Moreover, I wouldn’t be shocked if the sequel casts a certain actor who has a penchant for saving youngsters through catastrophic events or dangerous situations.
