More details about Amazon Prime’s adult animated series Invincible Season 2 are coming this month. Robert Kirkman’s Invincible has only had one season so far on the streaming platform.
Amazon originally released the show back in March 2021 with only eight episodes. Fans received the animated series so well that it became an immediate hit on Amazon’s streaming service.
It currently sits with 98% on the Tomatometer and an audience score of 92%. Right after the last episode, they officially announced that they would renew the series for two additional seasons.
After that, news about the development of the show became silent. All the fans can do is speculate and enjoy the original comic books from Skybound/Image.
The Invincible official Twitter account has recently posted an update. It didn’t say anything definitive, but it is significant. For sure, it’s enough to stir up excitement among its fans. It simply stated:
Almost as good as chicken pot pie night.
And using still images from the show, it added:
Ah, January. Invincible S2 News Month.

After more than one year of waiting, this small announcement can fire up excitement among people who are eager for what’s to come. The original show only covered 13 issues of the comic book.
And that is just a small chunk of content, considering that the comics has a total number of 144 issues. So, there is still a lot that fans are looking forward to.
How much of the comics will they be adapting? The show itself is different enough from the comics that people don’t know what will happen next.
Needless to say, the show is not a direct adaptation. Fans could expect something. However, it can turn out differently in the animated series.
Because of Robert Kirkman’s involvement, it adds to the excitement among the fans looking forward to the continuation. In an interview with ComicBook.com last year, he stated:
[Invincible] sometimes adapts the comic book very closely, and sometimes it varies wildly. I think that the majority of the first seven is original to the series. There are vast chunks of every episode that are not in the comics at all. I think that there are even episodes #1 and #8, which I wrote, and so I feel like they probably skewed a little bit closer to the comics than some of the other episodes, there are large chunks of those episodes that are completely original to the show.
The Walking Dead spinoffs are coming

Despite the differences, the characters are still true to the story. He further explains the reason behind the changes that happen in the series from that in the comic books:
But I think that because the way that it’s so consistent, and because some people haven’t read the comics in some time, they’re like, ‘Oh yeah. This is exactly like the comics.’ So I think that some people think it’s a little bit closer to the comic than it actually is. Then at the same time, after years and years of working on The Walking Dead and being the guy in the room that’s like, ‘No, let’s change it. Let’s kill this character. Let’s do this,’ I was always pushing hard to change things as much as possible because I was bored with the source material because I was there for so long and additionally, The Walking Dead was something I was still actively doing [as a comic]. And so I was like, ‘Oh my God, can we please do something different?’
Fans also know Robert Kirkman for making the comic book series The Walking Dead which AMC also adapted into a TV series. The show has recently concluded its main series.
And for comic book fans, we all know how drastically that one has changed. It’s practically unrecognizable from the first season.
Regardless, it’s popular enough to still keep on going. In fact, it still even spawned new spinoffs.
We just hope Kirkman keeps an eye on the project in the long run. For now, we look forward to official updates for Amazon Prime’s Invincible.
