It was revealed not long ago that Hugh Jackman is returning as Wolverine in Deadpool 3, and fans of want to know what convinced him to return. This all comes after Jackman claimed that he was done playing the character after Logan. Well, it turns out he was convinced to play the character again, and actor/producer Ryan Reynolds revealed what convinced the actor to return to the role.
Reynolds was talking to Collider about Deadpool 3, and during the interview, he was asked how he managed to get Jackman to agree to return as Wolverine in the movie. Well, it turns out that it wasn’t just a question of money, which was my first guess. Here’s what Reynolds had to say when he was asked how they managed to get Jackman to agree to play Logan again in the third Deadpool movie:
I don’t believe that I’m responsible for Hugh coming back. I always wanted Hugh to come back. My first meeting with Kevin Feige when Disney bought Fox years ago, maybe three years ago, or three and a half, four years ago, I’m not sure, was about doing a movie with the two of us, a Deadpool Wolverine movie. And that was not possible at the time. And then Hugh just happened to call at that perfect moment and express that he’d be interested in coming back and doing this one more time…
…he expressed interest in coming back, and then it was my job to take that to Kevin Feige one more time and sell it.

Moreover, Reynolds then went on to reveal that he feels it would have been nigh on impossible to get Jackman back as Wolverine in the movie without Disney haven’t bought 20th Century Fox. Reynolds revealed that he’s now really excited to get working on the third Deadpool film. Here’s what he had to say about the film and working with Jackman:
It’s a lot of moving parts and Fox and X-Men and all that kind of stuff that Marvel needs to sort through. A lot of red tape in order to make that happen. And they did it. And I’m really grateful that they did it, because for me, working with Hugh is a dream come true. But working with Logan and having Logan and Wade together in a movie is beyond any dream I would ever be audacious enough to have.
Deadpool 3 is slated to be released in cinemas in the United States on November 8th, 2024, which is quite a ways off at the moment. It looks like they’re going to start filming the movie relatively soon, and it’s going to be directed by Shawn Levy. Levy has already worked with Reynolds on two films, Free Guy and The Adam Project. It seems as though the pair love working together.
