I’ve always been a huge fan of horror, and I often find myself looking for the next film in the genre to watch. I tend to use a lot of streaming platforms for my next scary flick – that’s where Netflix comes in.
There’s a movie on there now that I think you should all check out, and that’s a little film called The Autopsy of Jane Doe.
It was released in 2016 and stars the likes of Emile Hirsch as Austin Tilden, Brian Cox as Tommy Tilden and Ophelia Lovibond as Emma Roberts.
Why should you watch this horror movie on Netflix?

First off, that is a terrific cast. The cast alone should make you want to watch the movie. However, there are a few other reasons to check out the film.
The first reason is that it’s a stripped-back horror flick that’s all set in one location. Some people might think that sounds boring, but as far as I’m concerned, it makes it a whole lot more interesting.
Director André Øvredal succeeds in making a movie that true horror fans will appreciate. There’s a huge amount of tension, and there’s a supernatural twist to it that I’m pretty sure many of you will love.

But before I keep on waxing lyrical about how much I love this movie, I should probably tell you what it’s all about.
Here’s the film’s official plot synopsis:
A father and son, both coroners, are pulled into a complex mystery while attempting to identify the cause of death of a young woman who was apparently harbouring dark secrets.
So, that’s the plot in a pretty small nutshell. Two coroners – a father and son – are scared half to death by a corpse, and it’s brilliant.
There’s so much going on in this movie that’s really fascinating. As they carry out the autopsy, you start to learn more about the two of them rather than the corpse lying on the table.
There are thrills and chills along the way, and many of them will have you jumping out of your seat – maybe even out of your skin in some moments. However, it’ll also make you think, which is one of the things I love the most about the horror genre.

This horror mystery chiller on Netflix is easily one of the first movies you should check out if you’re interested in the genre.
Emile Hirsch and Brian Cox give brilliant performances in The Autopsy of Jane Doe, and then there’s Olwen Catherine Kelly, who plays Jane Doe.
Yes, she spends most of the movie as a corpse on the table. However, there’s a whole lot more to her performance than just lying down.
She’s terrifying, creepy, spooky, revolving, dark, mysterious… OK, I’ve run out of adjectives to describe her performance in the movie.
Safe to say, she’s brilliant in it, and it’s one of the main reasons why I think you just have to watch this film.
I do write about a lot of movies here on Small Screen, but I really think that this is one of the ones you have to give a shot if you’re just endlessly scrolling through Netflix looking for something to watch.
