Honest Trailers are back at it again and this time they have taken on Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok. Check it out right here.
The good people at Honest Trailers are really kicking it up a notch with their attack on recent superhero movies. Their last video took on the rather flat Justice League and they ripped that movie to pieces. This time they’re taking on Marvel’s most recent Thor movie, Thor: Ragnarok, and to be honest, they’re conclusion is that it’s pretty darn good.
I’ve made it abundantly clear on multiple occasions how much I enjoyed Taika Waititi’s Thor movie. It’s big, bold, silly, colourful, bold, fun, and most of all, it’s funny. I would say that Thor: Ragnarok is the funniest Marvel movie to date, and the MCU includes films like Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 1 and 2, which are full of jokes.
However, for me, Ragnarok was a more than just a funny superhero movie. It did Thor justice and – as they say in this Honest Trailer – showed that Marvel is no longer afraid to stick with their wacky directors. This is just as much as Waititi movie as it is a Marvel movie, and that’s vital for the MCU’s future.
This has also been highlighted by the huge success of Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther movie, which is breaking all sorts of records. They have trust in the people they hire to make these films and allow them to make the films they had originally envisioned.
One of the best bits of this trailer is the moment when they call the film Flash Thordon, which it basically is. It’s the Flash Gordon on the MCU and proud of that fact.
