Henry Cavill Wasn’t At SDCC Because He Caught Covid

It’s being reported that Henry Cavill wasn’t at DC Film’s Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con this year to announce his return as Superman because he caught Covid!

This news comes to us via The Weekly Planet in their segment ‘Hot Scoop Or Shot Of Poop’ (yes, I’m sorry, but I am legally obliged to mention the segment by name).

So, what James Clement and Nick Mason over at The Weekly Planet revealed was that the actor reportedly caught COVID whilst filming The Witcher Season 3.

This scoop reportedly came from the same source that informed the pair about Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio were coming back as Daredevil and Kingpin in the Echo series.

This scoop was later proven to be correct when it was also reported in all the major trades.

So, it really does seem as though DC Films was all prepared to make the huge announcement that Henry Cavill would be returning as Superman at this year’s Comic-Con!

Henry Cavill reportedly caught Covid, which is why he wasn’t at SDCC!

This is actually quite surprising to me, because for a while there, I was of the firm belief that Cavill was just never going to get his shot at playing the Man Of Steel again.

I have heard reports that Henry Cavill and Warner Bros have been deep in negotiations for his return as Superman.

However, it’s been said that Cavill is asking for a lot of money to return to the role.

This might be why Warners has been looking at developing other Superman projects without Cavill in the role.

That said, Warner Bros Discovery’s new CEO, David Zaslav, is reportedly very interested in utilising the character of Superman more moving forward.

This suggests to me that we’re going to get many different versions of Superman in the DC Universe.

We’ve already got Sasha Calle’s Supergirl, who’ll be debuted in the upcoming Flash movie (if that film ever sees the light of day that is…).

Will Cavill’s Superman be in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam…?

Fingers crossed that Cavill and Warner Bros end up sorting everything out.

It does seem as though Cavill might feature in the Black Adam movie in some capacity.

It certainly seems as though Dwayne Johnson is keen on bringing Cavill back into the DC Universe fold.

He and Cavill share the same agent, Dany Garcia, who also happens to be the co-founder of the productions company, Seven Bucks Productions.

Seven Bucks Productions is Johnson’s production company, and it is producing the Black Adam movie.

It’s certainly in the company’s, Johnson’s and Garcia’s best interests to get Henry Cavill into the movie.

Cavill’s involvement in the movie would be a huge coup as far as the film’s marketing’s concerned.

People would be a lot more interested in watching the movie if they knew that Cavill’s Superman was going to be in it.

Look at how many people went to see Spider-Man: No Way Home on the basis that both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Men were going to be in the film.

That movie ended up making almost $2 billion at the box office, and it wasn’t even released in China which is quickly becoming Hollywood’s most lucrative market!

What do you make of this news?

Would you like to see Henry Cavill return as Superman in the DC Universe?

And, do you believe that he actually had Covid and that was why he didn’t attend SDCC?
