Former DCEU star Henry Cavill is reported to be in negotiations to star in Danny Boyle‘s science fiction film The Oasis.
Director, screenwriter and producer Danny Boyle has stood out for tackling various genres like comedy, crime, adventure, drama, horror, zombies, sci-fi, psychological thriller, post-apocalypse, alternate universe and more. His work is so diverse that it’s hard to tell what he’d make next.
Regardless of genre, his films also stand out. He’s known for films like Trainspotting, The Beach, 28 Days Later, Sunshine, Yesterday, Steve Jobs, 127 Hours, Slumdog Millionaire and others. Not only that but his films have been multi-awarded in the Academy Awards, BAFTA Awards, Golden Globe Awards and others.
To see Henry Cavill work with award-winning director Danny Boyle is interesting enough, regardless of what genre he’s planning. Knowing that this is sci-fi is just a cherry on top that I am excited about.

It’s been reported by Giant Freakin Robot that the Witcher star will be starring in Boyle’s latest film, The Oasis. According to the report, Cavill is set to portray the role of a dedicated researcher who stumbles upon a remarkable discovery—an unknown life form nestled within the confines of a desert. He takes on the task of protecting it from harm and exploitation.
It reminds me a bit of Boyle’s other sci-fi film Sunshine, where a team of scientists and astronauts is trying to ignite the dying Sun by sending a bomb to it. It’s an environmentally conscious film that focuses on global climate change, and The Oasis seems like it focuses on preserving life.
It could also possibly hint that the new life form could be a key to something bigger than many realise. This is why The Oasis could mean two or more things. Life is found in the desert, and the life form could be the one that saves us all.

Henry Cavill has become an iconic figure through his roles as Superman and the Witcher. Although his time as the Man of Steel was relatively short-lived, he has garnered a substantial fan following due to his exceptional portrayal of the character beyond the confines of the films.
Many fans believe that he was perfectly cast in the DC role, but unfortunately appeared in poorly written movies. Consequently, they do not hold him responsible for the underwhelming performance of his DC films.
Cavill is also known for leaving Netflix’s The Witcher after its third season. It was reported that the writers were moving away from the source material, which Cavill was not happy to go along with. He will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth in season four.
Currently, the actor has said that he plans to start producing his own series under Amazon Prime Video, based on the tabletop game Warhammer 40,000. He will also star in Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle and Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. He is also set to star in the videogame with an ensemble cast in Chris Roberts’ Squadron 42.
