Henry Cavill could return as Superman in future DC Comics projects. This is according to a new report from Geekosity (who’s reporting on a Syl Abdul scoop), and it would be fantastic. It’s been long rumoured that the British actor could be returning to the DC Universe as Superman. Back before San Diego Comic-Con, it was rumoured that he might be turning up during Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films’ panel. However, the panel came and went, and the Man Of Steel actor never turned up.
It was then reported that the actor didn’t appear at Comic-Con because he contracted Covid-19 whilst filming The Witcher Season 3. Production on the show’s third season was then put on hold for a while because of multiple Covid-19 cases. We then heard that Warner Bros Discovery was doing everything within its power to try and get him to agree to return as Superman in the DC Universe.

We revealed not too long ago that he was deep in negotiations with Warner Bros for a potential return to the DC Universe as Superman. That was back before the Warner Bros Media and Discovery merger. Things might have changed since back then. However, it does seem as though Warner Bros Discovery’s new leadership and, in particular, the company’s CEO, David Zaslav, seem to be very keen on bringing that actor back into the fold.
That said, it was reported that the British actor wasn’t too interested in returning to the role and was asking for quite a bit of money. Perhaps more money than Warner Bros Discovery can afford at the moment. It has been reported that the company is in dire straights financially. Although, they are going to have to spend quite a bit of money if they really do want to bring the likes of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman to the big screen.
Which projects could he turn up in?

Zaslav is reportedly very interested in making more content around the likes of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. It was said that he felt that Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films weren’t utilising those characters and their respective properties to their full extent and potential. I agree with him on this one. They are the most interesting and recognisable characters. We’ve had Matt Reeves’ The Batman movie, which was brilliant and received really well by critics and moviegoers alike.
I think that Warners need to make another solo Superman movie. It’s actually becoming very important for them to do this because Superman is literally the most famous and beloved superhero in the world. It’s kind of crazy that they’ve only made two solo Superman movies in the last 30 years. I think this is just bonkers! Hopefully, Warner Bros Discovery will change this.
As far as which upcoming DC Comics properties Cavill’s Superman could turn up in, I think the most obvious one is Black Adam, or at least Black Adam 2. Superman would fit into that franchise very nicely. However, I really want a solo Superman movie, and I think that’s exactly what Warner Bros Discovery is planning. We’re just going to have to wait and see what ends up happening.
