A few days ago we brought you some news that Henry Cavill had a meeting with Marvel Studios back in May.
The news is pretty exciting that Cavill and Marvel are talking, and naturally, most fans thought it was for one specific role.
That role is Captain Britain.
There were a lot of people claiming that the fact that Cavill and Marvel were meeting face-to-face in London was to chat about the role of Captain Britain.
Well, it seems as though Captain Britain isn’t actually on the MCU menu just yet.
Captain Briain isn’t currently on the menu for the MCU

There are a bunch of reasons why this might be the case, and I’ll go into them shortly.
However, before getting into that, I would like to relay what our source had to say when I asked them about Cavill and Marvel Studios.
I also think it’s important to state that this comes from the same source whom informed us about Cavill and Marvel’s meeting in London back in May.
We’ve been able to vet this source and find their information to be very reliable.
Right, now that I got all that stuff out of the way, here’s what they had to say on the matter:
All I know for sure is that Marvel Studios isn’t looking at Henry Cavill for the role of Captain Britain.
Our source then went on to add:
They don’t have any plans to bring Captain Britain to the MCU at the moment.
Why isn’t Marvel looking to cast Henry Cavill as Captain Britain?

So, why isn’t Marvel looking to bring Captain Britain into the MCU just yet?
It seems as though they have other plans for the character, and they might not want to cast someone quite as famous as Cavill in the role.
The usual Marvel way of doing things in the MCU is to cast somebody slightly lesser-known in their big MCU roles.
However, another thing they could be looking to do is cast Henry Cavill as a new version of the character.
They like to blend characters together in the MCU and make completely new characters.
They’ve sort of done this with the likes of Kang The Conqueror and even Lady Loki recently.
So, Cavill could be playing a version of Brian Braddock (aka Captain Britain), but won’t be directly referred to as Captain Britain.
Cavill could play a mashup of multiple characters in the MCU

The other reason could be not wanting to bring in a character like Captain Britain into the MCU just yet.
Why, you ask? Well, Brexit and the current trend of nationalism that’s strife in the world and the UK at the moment.
Marvel does like to be as inclusive and as apolitical as possible.
Bringing in a character like Captain Britain into the MCU might go against that.
And, yes. I know that they are using the character – or a version of the character – in their upcoming What If…? series.
However, that’s not tied to the MCU, which is open to more people than the animated Disney Plus TV show will be.
Therefore, Cavill seems to be in line to play another character in the MCU.
What do you make of this news?
