Now that Henry Cavill has officially and announced that he has put up his Superman cape in the closet, will he end up coming to the MCU? Henry Cavill has been in the spotlight recently, mainly because of him leaving The Witcher and the most famous one of all, DC.
So, it is a legitimate question, and a lot of fans wonder if he’ll move to Marvel since DC is now behind him. Actors are also known to jump from one comic franchise to another, so Cavill is also not exclusive to DC either way.
Many speculate that Marvel would want to grab him for a more long-term role than what Warner Bros. Pictures has treated him. The MCU itself is growing, and there are no signs of stopping.
Even with failed projects, Marvel still keeps working with the actors to keep on working on their stories. Just on a different project than was initially planned.
You can bet that they’ll be looking into new talent who would want to work with them. And Marvel wants talent who wants to collaborate.
And it does seem that Cavill wanted to make it work with the DCEU. Marvel could get Cavill at some point if they want to.
Could Henry Cavill end up joining the MCU?

Henry Cavill is a geek like us, and he’s always shown that. He’s actually open to being part of the MCU.
He has even said during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he wanted a Marvel role that we haven’t seen on screen before:
I have the internet, and I have seen the various rumours about Captain Britain and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that — like the way they modernized Captain America. There’s something fun about that, and I do love being British.
This interview was back in November 2021. Wouldn’t it be great if Cavill does get the role of Brian Braddock?
Cavill fans are rooting for him to get the role if that ever happens. If he can’t be Superman in the DC Universe, why not be a British Superman-like character instead for the MCU.
With Cavill being a British native, this actually fits him. Not only that, but it’s been recently reported by Giant Freakin Robot that Marvel is looking into Cavill to play the role.
And if so, he should debut in Captain America: New World Order. But this is not the only role fans are looking into as his possible entry into the MCU.
MCU Fan u/n_droo_yu_el posted on Reddit an illustration of Cavill taking the role of Reed Richards. I know that people are looking forward to the possible return of John Krasinsky as Mister Fantastic.
But I can’t deny the u/n_droo_yu_el’s interpretation of Cavill as Richards looks incredible. The illustration itself is based on Alex Ross’ work on Fantastic Four #24.

Back in 2020, there was also an interest for Cavill to take the role of Wolverine. This fan casting was illustrated by apexform.
While this is interesting to say the least, so far, we know Hugh Jackman is returning as Wolverine in the MCU with Deadpool 3. And for the long term, I think Marvel will be looking for someone younger than Cavill to take the place of Wolverine.
There were even some rumours about Henry Cavill taking the role of Hyperion. It was even reported that he’d be showing up in Disney Plus’ Loki series in season 2.
But in an interview with Josh Horowitz, Cavill denied that he has any participation in the project. Another report has said that the former Superman actor is already working on an MCU project called Sentry.
A well-known insider in the industry Daniel Richtman revealed this. Not only that, but it is said that he’ll be facing the Thunderbolts.
There is no denying that fans want him to be part of the MCU. And since Cavill himself is willing to join Marvel, and Marvel does listen to a bit of fan casting.
The question is, when will it happen? If it’s going to be Sentry or Captain Britain, I’m sure fans will be open arms just to see Cavill in a more stable comic book universe.
Right now, the British actor has opened up his schedule by leaving DC and Netflix’s The Witcher. But as some doors close, some do open up.
It’s no secret that Cavill is excited to work on an adaptation of one of his favourite miniature war games, Warhammer 40,000. Not only that, but he is also working on The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and The Rosie Project. It is also been reported that he is working on a Highlander sequel/reboot.
