Henry Cavill Filmed New Superman Scenes In August

Henry Cavill reportedly filmed new scenes as Superman in early August, which is a very interesting new development in the whole Cavill/Superman saga. This new report comes to us via Geekosity, and I just wanted to put my two cents out there about this whole situation that Henry Cavill and Warner Bros Discovery have found themselves in. So, it was reported towards the beginning of August that Henry Cavill was going to be turning up at San Diego Comic-Con to announce a new Superman project. Well, Comic-Con came and went, and no sign of the Man Of Steel.

So, what does this mean? Does this mean that the rumours are true and that Henry Cavill has no interest in returning as Supes? Or, could it just have been the wrong time to announce Cavill’s return as the Man Of Steel? Possible? However, there’s a third possibility. Maybe, Cavill and Warner Bros Discovery actually worked things out a while back, and they really want to keep his involvement in future DC Universe movies as secret as they possibly can?

So, what’s really going on? Well, we were told a while back that Cavill was deep in negotiations with Warner Bros about a potential return as Superman. However, since then, Warner Bros merged with Discovery and is now under new leadership in David Zaslav. However, we have also learnt that Zaslav is very keen on bringing Cavill back into the fold and really utilising the character of Superman as much as they can.

Zaslav sees Superman as a valuable property that they have not been using enough over the course of the last few years. This, I think, is true. They should have made a Man Of Steel 2 and didn’t. They should have given Cavill more screentime as Superman and didn’t. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. I’ve long felt that Cavill’s take on Superman is one of the best we’ve ever had. I genuinely feel that he’s very close to Christopher Reeves in the best Supermen of all time list. He’s still just a fraction behind, but give him at least one more solo movie, and I think he would end up being everyone’s number one.

So, what’s next for Henry’s Man Of Steel? Well, if this report is to be believed, then we could be seeing him in the upcoming Black Adam movie, which would be awesome! However, he could also be turning up in Shazam! Fury Of The Gods. I’m convinced that Dwayne Johnson is desperate to have Superman in his upcoming Black Adam movie. I also think that he will only want to have Henry Cavill play the role.

Johnson has been a very vocal advocate of Cavill’s take on the character and has also said in an interview that he’s “rooting for him”. That, to me at least, makes me believe that Johnson has been trying to get Cavill to join his Black Adam movie, but the Brit’s been playing hardball. There have been rumours that he’s been asking for more money, which I think is fair enough. Let’s wait and see what happens.
