It’s being reported that Warner Bros. Pictures is looking to make Heat 2, and they want Michael Mann to make it his next movie. It’s also being reported that the studio is in talks with Adam Driver to star in the film.
There have been rumours for a very long time that Michael Mann has been trying to get his Heat 2 book turned into a movie. He wrote the book with Meg Gardiner, and since then, there has been a lot of talk about it being made into a feature-length picture.
However, for a while, it did seem as though the project was never going to get off the ground. That said, it looks as though Warner Bros is now very much interested in getting the movie made, and they want it to be Mann’s next picture. This means that the project is very much being fast-tracked by the studio.

It’s being reported by Deadline that Heat 2 is in the works over at Warner Bros. Pictures. They reported that Mann and the studio are finally feeling more heat around the corner for a sequel.
Deadline added that they are “hearing that Warner Bros is now in negotiations to come on to develop Heat 2, a sequel to the 1995 classic that Mann recently turned into a novel”. The book, published in August, became a No. 1 New York Times bestseller.
However, that wasn’t the only thing that they revealed. Deadline also reported that their insiders added that Warner Bros. Pictures is in talks with Star Wars actor Adam Driver to star in the picture.
Driver recently starred in Mann’s next movie, Ferrari. It’s being reported that Driver is in discussions with Man to play young Neil McCauley in the movie.

The very first Heat movie was released in 1995, and it starred Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. Michael Mann directed the film, and it’s gone down in cinema history as one of the very best heist movies ever made. Here’s the film’s plot synopsis:
Obsessive master thief Neil McCauley leads a top-notch crew on various daring heists throughout Los Angeles while determined detective Vincent Hanna pursues him without rest. Each man recognizes and respects the ability and the dedication of the other even though they are aware their cat-and-mouse game may end in violence.
It’s also being reported that Warners is in negotiations to fund the movie’s development; however, at the moment, they have no other partner involved in the project. Arnon Milchan’s New Regency co-financed the first film, and insiders told Deadline that if and when the project is in a good place to move forward, they would be given an opportunity to co-finance.
As it stands, Mann is still the main force behind this movie becoming a reality. He’s working on the script, trying to cast actors and doing everything he can to get the project off the ground. We’re going to have to wait and see what ends up happening with this film.
