Harrison Ford has revealed that he doesn’t want Chris Pratt – or any other Chris – to play Indiana Jones after the upcoming Indy movie is released. Ford said that once he’s done with the character, it’s over. No one else can play the role, as far as the iconic Hollywood actor’s concerned.
Ford revealed this during an interview with TODAY (via Esquire), after he was asked whether he would like someone else to play the role after he’s done with the hat and whip. Here’s what he had to say on the matter:
Nobody is going to be Indiana Jones, don’t you get it? I’m Indiana Jones. When I’m gone, he’s gone. It’s easy.

There were many rumours suggesting that Lucasfilm was looking at Chris Pratt to take on the role after Ford was done playing Indy. This came after Pratt basically played a version of Jones in the recent Jurrasic World movies. However, it seems as though Ford isn’t a fan of this idea.
“This is a hell of a way to tell Chris Pine,” the actor said. “I’m sorry, man.” I know that Ford said “Chris Pine” during the interview, but I’m pretty sure that he actually meant Chris Pratt. However, it genuinely seems as though Ford thinks that once he’s done playing the role, it’s finished for Indy. However, I’m not sure whether Disney and Lucasfilm will feel the same way about the character. I’m pretty sure that they already have plans of making new Indiana Jones movies after the fifth one is released, whether Ford likes it or not.
Should Indy continue after the fifth movie?

Ford spoke about the upcoming movie during a presentation at the recent D23 Expo. He actually got very emotional whilst talking about the film. He was joined on stage by his co-star, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and he said that she was one of the reasons why the thinks this next film is really something special. He started to choke up a bit when he was talking about it, and it was just wonderful to see so much genuine emotion come from Ford whilst talking about Indy 5.
It makes me think that this upcoming film really will be something special. The movie is being directed by James Mangold, who’s made some of my favourite movies of all time. He directed Logan, Walk The Line, Identity, and Girl, Interrupted, which are all brilliant movies. Mangold also made Le Mans ’66 (also known as Ford Vs Ferrari), which I think is another great film of his. Cop Land is another movie of his that I think is actually pretty darn good.
As for his next film, Indiana Jones 5, it’s going to star Ford, Waller-Bridge and Mads Mikkelsen. They’ll be joined by the likes of Boyd Holbrook, Antonio Banderas, Thomas Kretschmann and Toby Jones. This might be one of the best casts ever assembled for an Indiana Jones movie! I cannot wait to see the final product.
