It’s being rumoured that the upcoming Green Lantern HBO Max series could be set in multiple time periods which would be interesting. This rumour comes courtesy of The Direct. They’re claiming that the show will feature the 1940s, the 1980s, and the modern-day as its settings.
However, they also went on to say that the Green Lantern series will alternate between these time periods, however, they’re not sure how. They also added that Alan Scott will be a character in the series. According to their sources, he’ll be a gay man who has to traverse 1940s America. He’ll be forced to hide his sexuality from the people surrounding him.
They also added that Guy Gardner will also be in the series and he’ll be in the 1980s. He’s going to be portrayed as a very masculine and quite abrasive character, which is how he’s portrayed in the comic books.

Cutting between different time periods isn’t an easy thing to do. Shows have tried to do it in the past and haven’t quite succeeded. However, it’s also a very ambitious way of storytelling and one which could really pay off.
The Direct has also previously reported that one of the show’s leads would be a black female lantern. In their report, they claim that the character might be called Bree Jarta.
According to them, she’ll be half-human and half-alien. She’ll be very hardworking and devoted to the Green Lantern Corps’ values.
