There have been calls from fans for Marvel Studios to cast Glenn Howerton as Mr Fantastic – aka Reed Richards – in the upcoming MCU Fantastic Four movie. You can now see some pretty incredible fan art (via Subi Ozil on Instagram) in which the artist has transformed Howerton into Mr Fantastic.
You can check out the fan art for yourselves below, and do let us know what you make of it. After seeing this fan art, I really do think that Howerton would be an interesting choice for the role.
If you’re not sure who he is, he is an American actor, screenwriter, producer and podcaster. He is best known for playing Dennis Reynolds on the long-running dark satirical comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2005–present) on FX/FXX.
He actually co-created the series with Charlie Day and Rob McElhenney, and he now serves as an executive producer and writer on the show.
Do you think Glenn Howerton would make a good Mr Fantastic?

There have been a number of actors tied to the role of Mr Fantastic in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. A lot of people have assumed that John Krasinski will play the role in the movie.
However, it’s looking more and more likely that the Jack Ryan star will not be returning to the MCU as Reed Richards. He himself recently admitted that his appearance as the character in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness was always intended to be a one-off thing.
Here’s what he had to say on the matter during an interview with The Wrap:
There aren’t any discussions at all, the only discussion I had was actually in the second-to-last week of Jack Ryan. Kevin Feige called and said would you ever fly to L.A. and play in our sandbox for a day? I was honored to do it. I flew right from Budapest when we wrapped and went right to the ‘Doctor Strange’ set. I’m a big fan of all those characters and that world, so to get to play in that sandbox for one day was a real thrill.
Will he be cast in the Fantastic Four movie?

Another name that has been attached to the role of Mr Fantastic more recently has been Adam Driver. There have been multiple reports suggesting that Driver has been in talks with Marvel about the role.
That would be interesting casting, but I actually think that Glenn Howerton might be a better choice for the role. There have even been reports suggesting that Marvel might be looking at the star of Netflix’s You, Penn Badgley, for the role.
The movie is being directed by WandaVision director, Matt Shakman. He joined the project after Spider-Man: No Way Home director, Jon Watts, left the project due to “creative differences”. That’s a term that’s been coming up a lot recently when it comes to directors leaving Marvel Studios projects.
Another director who’s recently left an MCU project due to “creative differences” is Bassam Tariq, who left the Blade movie.
Fantastic Four is slated for release in cinemas on February 14th, 2025.
