Gina Carano is being ridiculed online after the very first trailer for her upcoming movie, My Son Hunter, was released online, and it doesn’t look very good. You can check out what some people have been saying about her upcoming film via the tweets I will embed below. However, I do want to talk a little bit about Carano’s career and try to understand how she got to this new low point.
One of the first things I have to say about Gina is that she had so much potential. She played Cara Dune on The Mandalorian, and I thought she was just brilliant in the role. She was tough, cool, beautiful, and just brilliant in action sequences. Yes, some of her line delivery was a bit wooden, but she could have easily worked on that, and I’m sure she would have become much better at delivering her lines with a bit more gusto in time.

The Texan actress’ career was on an upward trajectory. Yes, she was Cara Dune, but before that, we saw her kick ass in Deadpool in which she played Angel Dust. I think the first time I remember seeing her in something was in Haywire in which she starred alongside Michael Fassbender and Ewan McGreggor. The film wasn’t fantastic, but I thought she was really good in it.
She then played Riley in Fast & Furious 6, and she really excelled in that movie as well. Gina was carving out a career for herself in these action movies, and her background as an MMA fighter really helped her with that. I genuinely believe that Gina was on course to become one of Hollywood’s most well-known and celebrated action stars. However, her social media activity just got in the way.

I used to believe her getting fired was her getting “cancelled” by the “woke mob,” and I’m ashamed to say that I used to defend everything she said, even if I didn’t agree with it.
However, looking back, I realize that her getting fired from Star Wars was entirely her fault.

Gina then got the gig in The Mandalorian as Cara Dune, and she was very close to becoming a household name at that point. After starring in two seasons and becoming one of the show’s main characters, it was revealed that Disney had greenlight a new series that was going to feature Cara as one of its leads. This show was called Rangers Of The New Republic. However, after all the controversy surrounding Gina, Disney and Lucasfilm cancelled the project. This was the beginning of the end of Carano’s career, at least, as far as mainstream Hollywood projects are concerned.
So, what happened? Why was Carano fired from The Mandalorian? I’m pretty sure you know what was going on. She was posting things online that movie or TV stars really shouldn’t be posting. Carano was sharing relatively extreme right-wing views online, and also promoting anti-vax posts. She also publically refused to support the Black Lives Matter movement. She was also accused of transphobia after changing her preferred gender pronouns in her Twitter profile to “beep/bop/boop”.
The build up of all of this is what got her fired in the end. It had been reported that Disney and Lucasfilm had warned the actress before she was fired. They basically told her to stop posting online and take down the posts she had already shared.

However, Gina didn’t stop, and that was kind of it for her as far as working for a studio like Disney was concerned. They fired her, and all other Hollywood studios have been staying away from her ever since. However, she’s since been working with the likes of The Daily Wire and Breitbart News. Amazingly, these right-wing ‘media’ outlets are making movies now. She made her first one with The Daily Wire called Terror On The Prairie, and it didn’t do all that well. It was only available to watch on Daily Wire Plus, and not many people watched it. It wasn’t really reviewed by any outlets apart from some right-wing ones.
We now have My Son Hunter, which is directed by Robert Davi and stars Laurence Fox, Gina Carano and John James. The film is basically about the whole Hunter Biden laptop story. It’s being distributed by American far-right media company Breitbart News, and slated for release on September 7, 2022. The trailer was released, and the movie looks like it’s desperately trying to be a right-wing version of Adam McKay’s movies, just less interesting, less well shot and probably not as well written. We’ll have to wait and see.
