The Mandalorian star Giancarlo Esposito is desperate to play the good guy in the MCU as the X-Men leader Professor X. Entertainment Weekly reports that the actor is looking forward to playing Charles Xavier in the MCU.
This news is not new. But him telling it more recently in front of a live audience shows he is interested in getting the part. We’ve reported last year that he met with Marvel to discuss the potential of being part of the MCU.
He has been considered by fans to play the role of Magneto. But many are also interested in seeing him as the leader of the X-Men. Esposito recently said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon:
I want to play a good guy. Charles is smart. He’s good. But I feel as if there may be some mileage with me and Marvel. I know I love what they do. I know I love creativity. So who knows what could happen? Keep putting it out there.

Giancarlo Esposito is an outstanding actor, he’s known for several projects like Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Boys, and several others. More recently, he’s in the new Netflix show Kaleidoscope, which is known for watching it in a random sequence of episodes.
I mean, his career is very impressive, and it doesn’t seem that it’s slowing down anytime soon. One thing is very consistent, though. What do Faraday (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners), Stan Edgar (The Boys), and Moff Gideon (The Mandalorian) have in common?
Giancarlo Esposito regularly plays a villain. This is why I understand why he looks forward to seeing himself take the role of a good guy, especially for a big franchise like the MCU.
Both Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy played the role of Charles Xavier. Both of them have done exceptionally well, and people have favourites too.
Stewart was cast by fans, and he was absolutely perfect for the role. Fans were proven right when we saw him in the first X-Men film back in 2000. He had the personality and the perfect physical traits to be Xavier.
McAvoy himself felt like a weird choice at first. But in his performance in X-Men: First Class, he’s proven himself as a very impressive young version of the character. Some even wondered if we’ll get to see him again in MCU’s multiverse.

But the 20th Century Fox version of X-Men is over, and Marvel is now opening its doors for the mutants to come in.
Yes, we’ve seen Patrick Stewart return as a Professor X variant in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But we all knew that his return was not going to be permanent. It’s pretty much the same case with Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine in Deadpool 3.
Marvel Studios has already been preparing the fans for the mutants to be part of the MCU. Some mutants have already appeared in the Marvel Universe, namely Namor the Submariner and Ms. Marvel.
The X-Men is sure to turn up sometime soon. And for sure, fans will be expecting Charles Xavier to be there. If it would be Giancarlo Esposito? I don’t know. Personally, I haven’t seen him take a role that wasn’t villainous. But he sure has an impressive talent I am looking forward to seeing the actor play the good guy.
Giancarlo Esposito will be returning as Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian Season 3 this coming March in Disney Plus.
What do you think of Giancarlo Esposito taking the role of Professor X? Are you looking forward to seeing him lead the X-Men?
