It’s been revealed that Giancarlo Esposito has been cast in a top-secret Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) role, which is very exciting news indeed. However, it’s already been confirmed that the actor will not be playing Professor X in an X-Men movie, which is what many fans have claimed is a role he should be considered for.
So, where does this news come from? Well, it actually comes from the horse’s mouth! Yes, Giancarlo Esposito revealed this news himself during a recent panel discussion at CCXP Mexico. After fans claimed that he should play Professor X, Esposito revealed he’ll play a different role, teasing that it’s coming “sooner rather than later” and “better than you can imagine.” He also revealed that this character is a new creation in the Marvel canon!

So, it sounds as though Esposito might have finally gotten his wish. He’s been saying for years that he wants to join the MCU. However, it seems as though they just haven’t found the right role for him. Well, it looks like they have finally found a role that fits the actor, and it seems as though this role is a completely original creation, which is very exciting news. I love it when Marvel comes up with new characters.
Esposito is also one of the most talented actors working in Hollywood today. You just have to take a look at his remarkable performances in the AMC series Breaking Bad as Gustavo Fring. He played the character again in Better Call Saul, and he was just as impressive in that spinoff series. I really liked his performance as Moff Gideon in Disney Plus’ The Mandalorian series.

What I will say is that he’s been somewhat typecast as the villain, and I’d like him to play a different sort of character in the MCU. I think he’s earned it. Although, they do say that a villain is always the most fun to play as an actor. So, maybe he just really enjoys playing the bad guy.
We’re going to have to wait and see who he’ll end up playing in the MCU, but I cannot wait to find out! He’s such a talented actor and will be a terrific addition to the MCU.
