There are a number of Star Wars fans who are desperate to see George Lucas return to the Star Wars franchise.
Many of these fans are people who’ve claimed that Star Wars: The Last Jedi ruined their childhood (just putting that in there).
Anyway, it’s been suggested that George Lucas should come back and ‘fix’ the Star Wars franchise.
These people seem to be forgetting that Lucas gave us the prequel trilogy, but nevermind.
Lucasfilm’s new President, Kathleen Kennedy was chatting to Rolling Stone about the future of Star Wars and the upcoming movie, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
It was during this interview when she was asked whether she’d ever like George Lucas to return to the company.
Her answer was direct and to the point. It was a pretty firm no, but she did say that she’d love him to return at some point in the future.

Here’s what Kennedy told Rolling Stone in full about Lucas’ return to the Star Wars franchise:
I doubt it. But listen, I think that would be fantastic, if he would be interested in doing that again. But I doubt it. He’s loving doing his museum (the upcoming Los Angeles’ the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art) right now. That’s a huge project, which is going to be absolutely fantastic. It’s a narrative museum, so it really keeps him engaged in storytelling. I think he’s loving that and he’s loving his little girl [six-year-old daughter Everest]. So he’s pretty fulfilled.
It sounds to me like Lucas has got his life pretty well sorted out at the moment and doesn’t want the hassle of having to return to making these Star Wars films and dealing with upset fans.
No matter what he could have done in the Star Wars franchise, some people would have been upset and angered by his decisions.
The Star Wars fanbase can be, let’s say difficult sometimes, and they aren’t too forgiving.
That said, they seem to have forgiven Lucas for the prequel trilogy, so maybe I’m wrong about them.
