Galactus And Silver Surfer To Feature In Fantastic Four Film

It’s being reported that the upcoming Fantastic Four movie that Marvel Studios is working on will feature both Galactus and the Silver Surfer! These are two iconic characters that are very much tied to the Fantastic Four in the comic books, so it’s good to hear that Marvel is working on bringing them into this upcoming movie.

We have seen versions of these characters on the big screen in the past. However, they’ve never really been done justice. We saw both characters in the 2007 movie, Fantastic Four: The Rise Of The Silver Surfer.

In that movie, Silver Surfer is sent to Earth by Galactus to prepare it for its destruction, and the Fantastic Four have to prevent that from happening. They also have to deal with Victor Von Doom’s return in that film. Safe to say that there was a lot that was going on in that movie, and I would argue that there was too much.

I’m hopeful that Marvel Studios, Matt Shakman and the movie’s writers have something a bit more exciting and comprehensible planned for this upcoming Fantastic Four film.

We’ve already heard reports that this upcoming MCU movie is going to see the Fantastic Four team be originally from the 1960s, and they will then go and explore the Multiverse. However, it sounds like they might be exploring the cosmos and might end up confronting Galactus and his messenger boy, the Silver Surfer.

This news comes to us via Jeff Sneider of The Hot Mic podcast. Here’s what Snieder had to say about the upcoming Fantastic Four film:

Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer’s draft of Fantastic Four was fine, but they brought in that new writer to get it to that level that Kevin Feige and Matt Shakman wanted, but Marvel is still open to working with Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer again.

Jeff then went on to reveal that Feige is looking for “more established talent” to work behind the camera. This means that he’s looking for more well-known writers and directors to help make the upcoming Marvel movies, which makes a lot of sense to me. Here’s what Sneider had to say on this topic:

Although, apparently, Kevin Feige does want to hire more established talent behind the camera, I’m told.

Sneider then added that Matt Shakman, the movie’s director, is “planning on going very cosmic” with this upcoming Fantastic Four flick, and he also added that two very iconic Marvel Comics characters would be introduced into the MCU in this picture. Here’s what he had to say on the matter:

Matt Shakman is planning on going very cosmic with this Fantastic Four movie, a lot of 1960s elements, and that the film will feature both Galactus and the Silver Surfer.

The Fantastic Four movie still has a release date of February 14th, 2025, and is set to kick off Phase 6 of its storytelling universe. It’ll be interesting to see if they are able to stick to that release date.
