DC Studios’ co-CEO, James Gunn, has claimed that Gal Gadot has not been ‘booted’ from the DC Universe, suggesting that she could still be playing Wonder Woman moving forward. Gunn revealed this via Instagram.

This all comes after it was revealed that Gunn and his co-CEO over at DC Studios, Peter Safran, are really shaking things up as far as the DC Universe is concerned. We already know that Henry Cavill will not be returning as Superman in the DCU.

This means that his Man Of Steel sequel is effectively cancelled. We also learned that Gunn is writing his own Superman movie that’s going to focus on a younger version of the character. Gunn revealed that the movie would not be an origins story and would feature more of Clark Kent as a journalist for The Daily Planet.

It was also revealed that Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 has been cancelled. However, we still don’t really know what’s happening with Gal Gadot, and there have been reports suggesting that her time playing Wonder Woman has come to an end.

Thankfully, Gunn has proved some clarity about Gadot and where she currently stands. Gunn replied to a commenter on one of his posts on Instagram, which read: “Cannot wait to see what you’re cooking up… That being said, the move to boot Cavill and Gadot (especially after they’d announced their return) doesn’t inspire confidence.”

“I’m not sure where you’re getting that we ‘booted’ Gal,” Gunn replied.

So, what could Gunn be saying here? Well, I’m thinking that he’s suggesting that as it stands, Gadot is still their Wonder Woman, which I think would make sense. However, it could also mean that Gadot opted to leave the role and, therefore, DC on her own after the shakeup and Jenkins leaving Wonder Woman 3.

Patty Jenkins’ treatment for Wonder Woman 3 was rejected and it was reported that the executives at Warner Bros. Pictures weren’t thrilled with her work. It was then reported that Jenkins sent them the link to the definition of ‘character arc’ on Wikipedia.

Jenkins has since responded to these reports. Here’s what she had to say on the matter:

I never walked away. I was open to considering anything asked of me. It was my understanding there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this time. DC is obviously buried in changes they are having to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now.

This all came after Gadot shared a pretty hopeful message about the “next chapter” of Wonder Woman. Here’s what Gadot had to say about Wonder Woman:

A few years ago it was announced that I was going to play Wonder Woman. I’ve been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character and more than anything I’m grateful for YOU. The fans. Can’t wait to share her next chapter with you,” Gadot shared on social media.

Since becoming the co-CEO of DC Studios, Gunn has been getting a lot of flack and hate online. This has all to do with the decisions that he and Peter Safran have been taking over at DC Studios.

The DC Universe is going in a new direction, and I think that’s a great thing! The Suicide Squad and Guardians Of The Galaxy director addressed the fans in a series of tweets and an Instagram post in which he called all the hate aimed at him, his wife, Jennifer Holland, and Safran a “disrespectful outcry.”

Here’s what Gunn had to say on the matter:

Our choices for the DCU are based upon what we believe is best for the story & best for the DC characters who have been around for nearly 85 years. Perhaps these choices are great, perhaps not, but they are made with sincere hearts & integrity & always with the story in mind.

Gunn continued:

We were aware there would be a period of turbulence when we took this gig, & we knew we would sometimes have to make difficult & not-so-obvious choices, especially in the wake of the fractious nature of what came before us.
