It’s being reported that Gal Gadot will still be playing Wonder Woman despite Patty Jenkins’ exit from Wonder Woman 3. This report comes to us via Geekosity, and I’m glad to hear that this is the case because Gadot is great in the role.
It had been reported that the new heads over at DC Studios were looking to recast all of the Justice League actors. This means that the likes of Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher are all in danger of being replaced as their respective DC Comics characters.
However, we’re now hearing that this might not be the case. DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn took to Twitter to say that some of THR’s article was true, but some of it wasn’t. Gunn also stated that he’s a big fan of Cavill’s take on Superman and Ben Affleck’s version of Batman. This got people wondering whether one of the ‘untruths’ of The Hollywood Reporter’s article might be to do with the recasting of the Justice League actors.

That said, it seems as though Jason Momoa’s time playing Aquaman might end after the next Aquaman film. The report suggested that Momoa might end up playing Lobo in the DC Universe instead, which is a role that I believe he’s much better suited to, and the actor has also revealed that he’s a huge fan of the character.
As for Wonder Woman, it seems as though Gadot is still in line to play the role in the future. However, what seems to be certain is that the next movie will not be directed by Patty Jenkins. This comes after it was revealed that Jenkins is a ‘nightmare’ to work with. There were reports that Warner Bros. executives weren’t best pleased with her script for the third Wonder Woman movie. When they asked her to change parts of it, she reportedly sent them an email with just a link to the Wikipedia page to the definition of the term ‘character arc’.

So, it seems as though Patty Jenkins is out, but Gal Gadot is still in. I don’t think this is a bad thing at all. Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios can always find a new writer and director for the third Wonder Woman movie. After the poor reception to Wonder Woman 1984, I’m actually surprised that Warners agreed to let her work on the third movie.
This could be the change that the character needed. So, we’re just going to have to wait and see what ends up happening with Wonder Woman in the DC Universe. I’m sure that James Gunn and his co-CEO over at DC Studios, Peter Safran, have big plans for the character moving forward.
