fred-bugs-surrealist-artist-1

Fred Bugs is a surrealist and Italian neo-expressionist artist. He is a realist who does not like being locked in a cage. Fred is fully dedicated to his city and wants to represent it positively.

His real name is Federico Cabras. He comes from Bosa, one of the most characteristic and picturesque villages of Sardinia. He has always been passionate about purely geometric art, which focuses on geometric shapes to create abstract figures.

One of the artists who Fred Bugs loves is Giuseppe Larcimboldo. Giuseppe is considered to be one of the precursors of the surrealist and abstract movement and was a master of perspective.

Due to his skill, his portraits present a three-dimensional effect, but he is mainly known as an artist for his portraits representing organic objects such as fruits, vegetables and flowers.

In a short time, the artist, partly due to his unique pencil stroke, became an important and respected reference point regarding surrealist art and neo-expressionism in general.

Fred Bugs expanded his views and approached modern art, focusing on some modern artists, including A. R. Penck, Wifredo Lam, Keith Haring and finally, the great artist Miró.

Fred Bugs makes some considerations; these artists mentioned above, and many others lesser known ones, have found themselves in some difficult historical situations, having to work in the midst of wars and the constant threat of physical violence.

However, despite these difficulties, they still managed to assert their character and charisma first as people and then as artists.

Today’s naiveté in front of faceless artists and the ease with which these rich marketing phenomena have been exalted by a populist, sterile and hypocritical world is a slap in the face to the real history of art.

It’s also a slap in the face to all the artists who, thanks to their talent and strong charisma, have made history, some becoming more famous than others, without any help, bureaucracy, advertising, or marketing.

The artist known as Fred Bugs concluded by saying that we are in a very trivial and unregulated period in history. We are stragglers and slaves to “so-called” democracy.

We are now locked in a game. Life is now more about standing out from the crowd. Let’s try to change the world for the better.

We are talking about human relationships and mutual respect on the internet, social media and on the streets. No one can just go and do what they want and be rude to other people.
