There are a whole bunch of spinoff shows in the works. We have the Rick and Michonne series, which is being billed as an “epic love story”. There’s also a Norman Reedus Daryl Dixon spinoff series that is also in the works.
AMC is also working on a spinoff show which will see Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in what’s been called an “epic hate story.”

TWD: Dead City – which was going to be called Isle of the Dead originally – will see Maggie and Negan have to work together. They are going to be travelling together into post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland. Here’s how AMC described this upcoming spinoff series after they revealed the first look at the series during the AMC Networks Summit:
The city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.
The series’ Executive Producer, Scott M. Gimple had this to say of the upcoming spinoff show:
We have two characters who are incredibly distinct from each other.
He then went on to describe Dead City as an “epic hate story” between Maggie and Negan. Meanwhile, this first look at the upcoming series reveals that the two characters will look slightly different in the show.
This spinoff is going to be good!

Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, revealed on Variety’s Strictly Business podcast, the following:
It’s going to take place on the island of Manhattan, which was left to the walkers 12 years ago when they overran Manhattan. The government decided to blow all the bridges and tunnels and just leave the island to the walkers. And it’s now 12 years later.
12 years post-outbreak of the zombie virus, a “million-walker herd” is “dominating the streets of Manhattan,” forcing the living to traverse the city’s rooftops by zip-line.
“Maggie and Negan have to journey onto the island, where there’s a small civilian [faction] that lives in Manhattan, above the 10th floor of all the buildings, and they zip-line back and forth above the streets,” McDermott teased.
Some of the show’s characters will include Perlie Armstrong (played by Gaius Charles), Amaia (played by Karina Ortiz), Ginny (played by Mahina Napoleon), Tommaso (played by Jonathan Higginbotham), and an enigmatic survivor known only as “The Croat” (played by Zeljko Ivanek).
Eli Jorné (The Walking Dead) created the series and will serve as the showrunner. Gimple is executive producing the series alongside Cohan and Morgan. The six-episode first season of Dead City is slated to premiere in 2023 on AMC and AMC+.
