First Look At Palpatine In Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Leaked

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker’s trailer basically broke the Internet the other day, and for good reason. It was pretty brilliant, and it did feature a tiny glimpse at Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’s trailer which looked a bit like a hovering mobility scooter.

I mean, the guy’s pretty old so he might have to have some help getting around.

We also got to hear him (we heard the wonderfully creepy tones of Ian McDiarmid) in the voice-over as he said: “Long have I waited. And now, you’re coming together is your undoing.”

That’s such a good line. Palpatine has all the best lines. I still have a great fondness for his “Do it!” moment in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

Anyway, a few images from The Rise of Skywalker have been leaked in which Palpatine can be seen sitting in this throne, Rey in front of him, and he’s shooting his trademark lightning beams into the sky.

I’m going to be honest, I’m not sure why he would be doing this. Perhaps there are some rather annoying birds interrupting his pleasant conversation with Rey and he wants to shut them up?

I don’t know. It could be a whole host of different things. Maybe it’s the return of the movie sky beam which we haven’t seen since Suicide Squad. I really hope it isn’t.

There’s also a shot of Palpatine standing up in front of his throne, which confirms that he still has some movement left and isn’t going to be completely decrepit in this movie, despite being super super old.

These images come courtesy of Alorha Baga’s Twitter account, and I’m not sure how he got a hold of them. They could easily be fake. We have no idea what’s fake or real these days, especially with the huge leaps in deep fake technology.

However, these do look pretty legitimate to me, and it does look like these shots could have been taken from a final showdown between Rey, Kylo Ren and Palpatine.
