We’ve been informed by an insider source that Tobey Maguire is very close to signing onto a Marvel Studios and Sony Spider-Verse movie and return as an alternate version of Spider-Man.
We were already informed that Andrew Garfield had signed on to this joint Marvel and Sony Spider-Man movie project.
It turns out that this project is going to be a live-action take on the Spider-Verse storyline.
We were now informed that Tobey Maguire has been in talks with Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios.
According to our intel, he’s very close to signing on to the project.
They are just working out the final few details of the contract, which could end up being a multiple-picture deal.

If Tobey Maguire does end up signing – which our source is very confident he will – then we’d get to see Holland, Garfield and Maguire’s versions of Spider-Man on-screen together.
We were told that the movie could also include the likes of Hardy’s Venom and Leto’s Morbius.
Today, our source also informed us that Madame Web was going to be involved in the movie.
That makes sense because she’s often directly linked to the Spider-Verse.
It’s unsure, however, whether Spider-Man 3 will set this Spider-Verse movie up.
As far as we can tell, it seems as though Spider-Man 3 is going to open the MCU up to the Multiverse.
This could, in turn, also bring Tom Holland’s Peter Parker into contact with the Spider-Verse.
Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures started early development on this live-action Spider-Verse movie after the hugely positive response to the animated Into The Spider-Verse movie.

However, there is an issue I can see with making a live-action version of Spider-Verse.
If they really are going to be using different versions of Peter Parker, it might end up being a bit crowded.
One of the main reasons why Into The Spider-Verse worked so well as because each version of Spider-Man (or woman, or robot, or pig) was very different to the others.
Having three Peter Parkers on-screen at once will be cool.
However, I hope the writers are able to make them well-rounded and unique versions of Spider-Man.
We’re just going to have to wait and see what happens with this live-action Spider-Verse movie.
That said, it does seem as though Garfield and Tobey Maguire have been impressed by the pitch.
