It’s being reported to us by sources close to Warner Bros. Pictures that they are now actively developing a big-screen adaptation of Harry Potter And The Cursed Child.
This comes after The Hollywood Reporter revealed that WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar opened up on the possibilities of new Harry Potter properties being in development during a session of the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecommunications Conference.
Here’s what he had to say on the matter:
There’s this little thing called Harry Potter, which is one of the most beloved franchises. And we’re incredibly thankful to be able to partner with J.K. Rowling and so I would argue there’s a lot of fun and potential there as well.
Harry Potter is still a huge franchise, and the movie series did very well for Warner Bros. Pictures.
The series ended up grossing over $7 billion worldwide and it continues to make the company money to this day.

I’m now being informed by some sources close to Warner Bros. Pictures that one of the properties they are looking to adapt for the silver screen is Harry Potter And The Cursed Child.
Here’s what one of the sources had to say on the matter:
WB is currently developing a movie version of Harry Potter And The Cursed Child. They’re also looking to get the original cast back: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson.
They added:
Watson is apparently proving difficult to convince. WB sees huge potential in this property thanks to the popularity of the stage play. This might end up replacing the Fantastic Beasts franchise which WB is keen to end after the third movie.

But, what is Harry Potter And The Cursed Child and why should this potential adaptation get you excited?
Well, it’s a stage play that’s set 19 years after the events of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows and features the children of the characters in the original Harry Potter books.
The stage play is still playing on the Westend in London and on Broadway in New York and has been a huge success.
I still haven’t had the chance to see it, but everyone I know who has done has said it’s one of the best things they’ve ever seen.
The script for the play was written by John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, not J.K. Rowling, but she did have an input in coming up with the story.
This will be in addition to the Harry Potter series they’re already developing for HBO Max.
We contacted Warner Bros. Pictures for comment on this story. They declined to comment.

Call me crazy but I just want to see more stories from the Harry Potter world. Let me see a spy thriller set in the wizard of world. Or a World War II movie but with wizards! I don’t feel like we need to constantly revisit Harry and the gang for things to be interesting.
