Fans have always wished that Elizabeth Olsen could return as Scarlet Witch in the MCU and, since Doctor Strange 2, the actress can’t wait to do so. Undeniably, the actress has the powerful chaos magic-wielding Marvel character occupy a good portion of her heart.
Wanda Maximoff has gone through so much ever since Avengers: Age of Ultron, all the way up to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Not to mention her very own Disney Plus series WandaVision where she dealt with her grief over the loss of Vision, creating her hexed reality in the fictional town of Westview.
In Doctor Strange 2, she meant to be reunited with her sons from another universe, thus endeavouring to capture America Chavez, portrayed by Xochitl Gomez and use her power to cross universes. Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Stephen Strange was able to stop her and save her from herself. In the end, the Scarlet Witch destroyed all versions of the Darkhold in all universes together with the collapse of Mount Wundagore.
Even though it appears that Wanda perished as the mountain got destroyed, fans who believe in the “no body, not dead” movie concept knows she will return. On top of which is the fact that MCU is now deep into its Multiverse narrative. The studio has been quite successful in bringing that aspect of the comics into the big and small screen.

An article from Screen Rant quotes Olsen saying:
We can do anything with her now! I feel like we’ve done so much. Now, we can really have fun; I feel like there’s a lot more humor to be had with her. She’s often the emotion of a story, and I’m curious to see what we can explore. And hopefully [we can] give her some redemption.
It is very encouraging for her fans to know that the actress is very positive at the prospect of the character’s return. Now more than ever, Olsen seems to be knowing something that she isn’t telling, and she is truly excited about it.
This echoes the encouraging words she spoke last year, but this time, there is somewhat a more positive and hopeful note. In Variety’s 2022 Power of Women feature, Olsen was quoted saying:
I don’t think any of these characters are ever really gone
Also, the article mentioned Olsen hoping Wanda takes on a path
toward some sort of redemption.
But then the actress ends her comment with:
I really don’t know my future. There’s nothing that has been agreed on.
Meanwhile, Marvel Studios’ top decision maker Kevin Feige was more teasing when he was asked whether Scarlet Witch indeed died in Doctor Strange 2. He said:
I don’t know that we saw her under rubble? I saw a tower coming down and a little red flash. I don’t know what that means.
He teased further possibilities for the character with the following statement:
There really is so much more to explore. We still haven’t touched on many of her core storylines from the comics. I’d work with Lizzie for another 100 years if we could. Anything’s possible in the multiverse! We’ll have to see.”

Indeed, especially with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania showing the multitude of Kangs and the ‘multiple possibilities’ of a single person, who’s to stop the MCU from bringing the Scarlet Witch back? That is if ever she has actually gone in the first place.
Should there be a project down the line for Wanda Maximoff, aka The Scarlet Witch, fans can be relieved to know that Elizabeth Olsen will always be down to portray the role. Many titles have already been officially announced for the MCU, and it is possible that she can appear in any one of them.
With Phase 5 and 6 ending with two Avengers movies, namely The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, chances are that she may appear in one or both. Scarlet Witch is a very powerful character. Even without an Infinity Stone, she was able to create her whole reality contained in an entire town and hexing a whole population, even creating her twin sons and her hex-Vision.
Furthermore, as Olsen wishes for a redemption arc for the character, it goes without saying she would wish for Scarlet Witch to be an ally once again than a foe.
What do you think Elizabeth Olsen meant when she wishes Scarlet Witch to have a redemption arc in the MCU? Could a project focused on that specific story be in the works? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
