Yay! It’s looking like Dwayne Johnson is going to be making Hobbs And Shaw 2 after all!
It’s looking pretty certain that Luke Hobbs has parted ways with the main Fast And Furious family for good.
In an interview with Collider, Hiram Garcia, the President of Production at Seven Bucks Productions, confirmed that Dwayne Johnson will not return for the next two Fast And Furious films.
However, in the same interview, Garcia also confirmed that the actor will be in a sequel to the spinoff film, Hobbs And Shaw.

Having made his debut in Fast 5, Johnson was a mainstay in the franchise all the way through to The Fate of the Furious.
Yet, for reasons that are too long to get into here, Johnson parted ways with the main franchise, opting instead to create his own spinoff film: Hobbs And Shaw.
The film was a hit at the worldwide box office, grossing $760 million.
When asked by Collider about the prospects of a sequel, Garcia confirmed it’s very much in development:
At the moment we’re trying to figure out what that sequel is going to be, but we have some very big ideas.
It was confirmed by Johnson in March 2020 that Chris Morgan would write the screenplay for the sequel.
Garcia clarified that while Johnson has exited the main franchise, it does not impede their plans for a Hobbs & Shaw sequel.
After filming Fast 8 DJ made the clear decision to close the Fast & Furious chapter for all the evident reasons. He wished them all well and shifted our focus on to other story telling avenues. So while he will not be in F10 or F11, that won’t in any way interfere with our Hobbs plans.
Fasten your seatbelts folks, it sounds like they have got plenty more Fast and Furious films left in the tank.
