Dumb And Dumber 3 Is Reportedly In The Works

It’s being reported that Dumb And Dumber 3 is in the works and that Jim Carry and Jeff Daniels will both be returning to their respective roles. Now, before I really get into the weeds of this story, I have to let you know that I haven’t heard anything about this from our sources, and it’s not marked as being in development over on IMDB Pro.

That said, just because I haven’t personally heard anything about this sequel being in development doesn’t mean that it’s not true. It just means that I cannot back up the original report with any of my own information.

The last movie to be released in this franchise was Dumb And Dumber To. That movie was released back in 2014, and honestly, it failed to recapture the magic of the original 1994 film, which became a huge hit when it was first released.

The original movie’s sequel was in the works for a very long time before it was eventually released, and I think fans were a bit upset by the movie. It was a bit like Zoolander’s sequel. That movie also failed to recapture the magic of the first film.

However, Dumb And Dumber To ended up making $169 million at the box office, and considering it only cost $50 million to make, it ended up making a pretty decent profit, which is probably why people in Hollywood think that there’s room to make a third film.

Interestingly enough, this third Dumb And Dumber film wouldn’t actually be the third movie in the franchise. That’s because in 2003 they released a prequel which was called Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd. That movie started Derek Richardson and Eric Christian Olsen in the Carrey and Daniels roles.

The film bombed at the box office. It only managed to make $39 million at the box office and it failed to spark a revival of the series at the time. It was pretty obvious that the Farrelly brothers, Jim Carrey, and Jeff Daniels were not involved in the prequel. This might have been the main reason why the movie failed to perform and to get bums in the seats at the cinemas.

The real reason why people loved the first movie was because of Carrey and Daniels’ performances and the way they bounced off of one another – quite literally in some parts of the first movie. The sequel managed to get people to come to the cinemas due to the fact that they were both in it.

Now, this report comes to us from Giant Freakin Robot, and they don’t offer any more information than the movie being in development and that Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels have agreed to star in it. They also stated in their report that it’s unclear whether the Farrelly Brothers will return to direct the third film.

We’re going to have to wait and see what ends up happening with this project. Maybe it could be third time lucky when it comes to this Dumb And Dumber sequel.
