Disney Plus’ Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Will Be Six Episodes

Most Star Wars fans were ecstatic to learn that Disney was making an Obi-Wan Kenobi series and it would star Ewan McGregor when it was announced at Star Wars Celebration earlier this year.

Before this, there were a lot of murmurs about an Ewan McGregor Obi-Wan Kenobi movie for quite a few years now, but it turned out to be a series instead, which I think is better news.

It’s now been revealed that the Disney Plus Obi-Wan Kenobi series will consist of six, hour-long episodes, which I think is a good length for this series, and it should be just a one and done. No series two.

Ewan McGregor revealed this little bit of information during an interview with Men’s Journal. However, he then said that he wasn’t sure he was allowed to tell them anything else about the upcoming series.

That said, he couldn’t seem to resist giving them a little tease about it, and he went on to reveal that he’d known for a while that he would be playing Obi-Wan Kenobi again.

We’ll finally see what Obi-Wan Kenobi was up to in this new series

“It’s a f***ing massive relief,” he told Men’s Journal.

“Because for four years, I’ve been having to lie to people about it.”

The Scottish actor also revealed that the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series would take place after the climactic events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

“The storyline sits between Episode III and Episode IV,” he said.

McGregor then went on to reveal what sort of mindset Kenobi will be in this series.

“The Jedi Order was falling apart,” he began. “It will be interesting to take a character we know in a way and show him—Well, his arc will be quite interesting, I think, dealing with that the fact that all the Jedi were slaughtered with the end of Episode III. It’s quite something to get over.”

There will be 19 years to fill in between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, and it’ll be interesting to see what Kenobi was up to during that time, and how he landed on the name Ben.

It’ll be interesting to see whether he stayed on Tatooine for all that time and whether he did find out that Anakin Skywalker was in fact Darth Vader.
