So, we all know that Disney now owns two of the biggest franchises in Hollywood history: the MCU and Star Wars.
These two movie franchises have been incredibly lucrative for the company over the last few years, and they’ve produced some record-breaking movies at the box office.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens broke $1 billion at the box office and went on to make over $2 billion, and then Avengers: Endgame became the highest-grossing movie of all time, overtaking Avatar in the process.
This seems to indicate that Disney is doing something right, but people are still not too happy with Star Wars, and there are now reports that they want to make the franchise’s future movies more like the MCU films.
This news comes courtesy of We Got This Covered’s sources, who claim that executives at Disney are looking at trying to make the future Star Wars movies more like the MCU.
It does make sense from a marketing and money standpoint, but it’s a dangerous road to go down if you ask me.
They probably want to make a whole slew of Star Wars movies and have them connected in some way, and then bring all these movies together every few years for one big crossover event.
Should Disney make their future Star Wars movies more like the MCU?

The MCU is great. I love it. But, they’ve basically turned these Marvel movies into TV series, with one crossover event tieing everything together with the Avengers movies.
Could this be what Disney’s executives are after for the future of Star Wars? I’m not so sure if this is a good idea.
Star Wars is its own thing, and tends to be about one group of people trying to battle evil.
We’ve seen with the spinoff movies that audiences aren’t that interested in what’s going on outside, around, or before the events of the main saga.
Who knows what Disney is going to do. The future of Star Wars beyond Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is unclear, hazy and ever-so-slightly worrying.
