Coronavirus has lead to a lot of the upcoming film releases be pushed back and it’s time Disney made their latest films available on Disney Plus.
We are currently living in very strange times, but this doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be able to still have some fun.
Whilst people are self-isolating or quarantining themselves at home, it’s a great time to spend time with loved ones and catch up on the things we’ve missed.
That means we can finally binge-watch all those Netflix and Amazon Prime movies and TV shows we’ve missed out on.
Incidentally, I’m currently working on some lists of TV shows and movies you should watch whilst staying safe at home.
However, this pandemic has lead to a lot of the big upcoming releases from being delayed.
Coronavirus has stopped all new movies from being released

We’ve seen the likes of No Time To Die, A Quiet Place Part 2 and Fast and Furious 9 to name a few be delayed.
More recently we’ve seen Disney opt to delay the releases of Mulan, The New Mutants and Antlers.
Today they announced they were also going to be postponing the release of their upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, Black Widow.
But is this really the best course of action? Is this what the people want? (The answer to that question is most definitely no.)
What do the people want then and what should Disney do?
Honestly, it’s not like Disney needs any more money these days, however, they do have to find a way to release all of these movies.
If they don’t, then the release calendar will end up being far too congested, and we can’t have them just cancel films.
They’re not sporting events. People have spent loads of time making them and there has been a lot of money spent on these movies.
But there is one answer. Disney could take a leaf out of Universal Pictures’ book.
Why can’t Disney do what Universal Pictures is doing?

Universal just announced that they were going to make their latest releases available on-demand from Friday.
These means movies like The Invisible Man and The Hunt will be available to rent on Amazon Prime and Apple TV.
That’s a pretty good idea to be honest (although, Universal is charging far too much to rent these movies. They’re charging $19.99 for 48 hours).
Disney does have one advantage over Universal Pictures. It now has its own streaming platform.
Moreover, Disney Plus is about to be released in Europe, and what better way to celebrate the streaming platform’s wide release by offering the likes of Mulan?
If Disney were smart about it, they would make at least some of their upcoming releases available on Disney Plus.
It might be a stretch to ask for films like Black Widow and Mulan to be released on there.
Mulan and Black Widow might not be made available to stream on Disney Plus

However, they could very easily drop The New Mutants, Antlers and The Personal History of David Copperfield on the streaming service.
It would serve as even more incentive for potential subscribers to go ahead and join the streaming platform.
It would also help develop goodwill towards the company.
They would be seen as trying to help people by making new and upcoming releases available to people who are stuck at home.
Granted, they might end up losing a bit of money in the process, but it would help bring more people into their new streaming ecosystem.
It might also help with retention, especially since they’re offering yearly subscriptions.
Honestly, I think there are too many positives for Disney as a company to do this.

On the other hand, it would be terrible for cinema chains, many of which are being forced to close down during the Coronavirus pandemic.
It’s going to be an incredibly tough time for cinemas all over the globe and having Disney start to drop their new movies on Disney Plus won’t help things there.
However, for now, why not make these movies available on Disney Plus?
People aren’t going to cinemas at the money anyway and most of them are closed.
What do you think? Should Disney make their upcoming movies available to stream on Disney Plus?
