It’s been revealed by Dexter’s showrunner that the upcoming revival series will get right what the original finale got wrong.
Clyde Phillips, Dexter’s showrunner, has been chatting about what they want to do with this upcoming Dexter revival series.
This new season of Dexter will be 10 episodes long and Phillips revealed that it won’t “undo anything” in the original finale.
He also revealed that the show will be set ten years after the show’s original finale episode.
This could be an interesting thing to see.
However, he did add that they will be trying to right the finale’s wrongs in this upcoming season.
He revealed this during a recent interview on The Hollywood Reporter’s podcast, TV’s Top 5.

Here’s what Phillips said during the interview:
Ten years, or however many years, have passed by the time this will air, and the show will reflect that time passage. So far as the ending of the show, this will have no resemblance to how the original finale was. It’s a great opportunity to write a second finale.
We’re not undoing anything. We’re not going to betray the audience and say, ‘Whoops, that was all a dream.’ What happened in the first eight years happened in the first eight years.
