What’s going on with Deadpool 3? It seems as though Marvel Studios might have just delayed the Marvel movie’s release date by a few months. Let us explain why we believe this to be the case. There was an unnamed Marvel movie that was set for release on February 16th, 2024. Well, it now seems as though this upcoming Marvel movie’s release date has now been pushed back to September 6th, 2024, at least, according to ComicBook.com.

The news that one of the upcoming Marvel movie’s release date had been delayed came from Discussing Film on Twitter. There was a lot of speculation about which movie Marvel Studios had opted to delay. However, it does seem as though the movie that’s now being released on September 6th, 2024 is actually the third movie. This Merc With A Mouth movie will be the first one to be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

This upcoming movie is going to star Ryan Reynolds, and they are working on the film’s script as we speak. Marvel and Reynolds had originally hired Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, known for the animated series Bob’s Burgers, to write the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. However, it was later revealed that Marvel Studios had hired Shawn Levy to direct the movie and that the franchise’s original writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, were back on writing duties for the third Merc With A Mouth movie.
It’s going to be very interesting to see how this movie ends up turning out. It was also revealed that this film would be an R-rated movie. There was a lot of speculation that the upcoming movie would be toned down after Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. However, Deadpool fans were delighted to hear that the Ryan Reynolds movie was going to be the first MCU movie to be R-rated. It seems as though Marvel and Disney are allowing Reynolds, Reese, Wernick and Levy to basically do whatever they wanted with this movie.

As for Reynolds and Levy, it seems as though the pair really do love working together. They made Free Guy and then followed that up with the Netflix film, The Adam Project. Both films were really good fun, and it seems as though they have developed a very good working relationship. The first Deadpool movie was directed by Tim Miller, and then he left the sequel and was replaced by David Leitch. Leitch was one of the directors behind the John Wick movies.
He’s since made Bullet Train, which is a movie that came out this year that stars Brad Pitt and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. So, Shawn Levy will direct the third Merc With A Mouth movie, and I really think that this is a good choice. Levy also directed some episodes of Stranger Things. The episodes he helmed for Season 5 were among some of the show’s very best episodes ever made. I was really impressed, and it made me think that Deadpool 3 was in very good and safe hands.
