The MCU might get a new musical number with the help of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool 3. Ryan Reynolds shares his thoughts in an interview with Deadline.
Ryan Reynolds Deadpool is set to return in Deadpool 3 with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. No one knows what the premise of the new film is. But it is presumed that they might be jumping around universes. There are reports that the film might even crossover to Loki as they deal with the multiverse.
Since the multiverse can be weird and unexpected, as we’ve seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. We wonder if they do get into weird situations that will force the duo to break into a song.
Deadpool is known to be self-aware and regularly breaks the fourth wall regardless of what media he is in. And he’s been talking about Hugh Jackman ever since the first film. So, now it’s here and Jackman is totally in.
Ryan Reynolds has shown that he has a talent for singing. Especially in his recent Christmas movie, Apple TV Plus’ Spirited. The movie included a fun musical number with Reynolds, and co-star Will Ferrell titled “Do A Little Good.”
Deadpool 3 Could Just Break Into A Musical Number

Everyone knows that Hugh Jackman himself is very skilled in doing theatre and musicals. That was his speciality even before he got into film. He has done Disney’s Beauty and the Beast as Gaston, and Sunset Boulevard as Joe Gills.
Jackman’s stage performance in Oklahoma! got him recognition in 1999 and a nomination for an Olivier Award. It eventually got him the role of Wolverine in Bryan Singer’s X-Men (2000). In the movies, he got back to singing in movie productions like Les Misérables (2012) and The Greatest Showman (2017).
Now that Reynolds has proven that he can sing, Deadline had to ask if there will be a musical in the latest Deadpool film with the Wolverine. He answered:
I don’t know. I would have trouble singing as I’m gargling his blood [laughs]. No, we’ll see.
It’s an opportunity that has to be taken, right? Deadpool and Wolverine in a musical number? That would be something. I mean, Deadpool has done a lot of crazy things. And it won’t feel that weird because Deadpool is self-aware that he is living in a movie.
I just wonder how Wolverine would go about it, though, since his character won’t break the fourth wall. Would Deadpool be able to show Wolverine his lighter side? Maybe the Merc with the Mouth could break Logan into a song just to get Deadpool to shut up. It could be hilarious if done right.
Even Joaquin Phoenix’s serious take on Todd Phillipps’ Joker will be getting into the music scene in the sequel. Joker: Folie à Deux has singer Lady Gaga cast as Harley Quinn. Many wonder how this will turn out, but yes, it is a musical. So, I can imagine Deadpool making fun of that with a song.
Deadpool 3 Now Has A Musical Number Idea

I’ve seen Hugh Jackman perform Wolverine: The Musical, a parody of One Day More from Les Misérables. This was performed on BBC Radio 1 for The Matt Edmondson Show while promoting X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014). It was a performance I laughed at and enjoyed immensely.
I know this was only done for fun. But since Hugh Jackman is returning as Wolverine in Deadpool 3, there is that possibility of him singing about himself.
It’s not the MCU’s first musical, though if you think about it. Marvel did a musical number called Rogers: The Musical. It was a fun piece you can watch at the end of Disney’s Plus Christmas Marvel series Hawkeye.
Deadpool 3 is still being written by Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin and will be directed by Shawn Levy. The film is set to start shooting by May 2023. Maybe the interview could have even influenced that possibility. So, this could potentially happen. We don’t know.
