DC Studios Head James Gunn Is Friends With Zack Snyder

It’s been revealed that James Gunn is the co-CEO of DC Studios and is close friends with Zack Snyder, so could the SnyderVerse come back? I actually didn’t know about this before it was revealed that Gunn was going to head up the newly-formed DC Studios. However, Mikey Sutton’s article over at Geekosity clarified this point.

I’ve been hearing a lot of negativity around the news that Gunn is going to be the new co-CEO of DC Studios. He’ll be doing the job with Peter Safran whom he’s worked with on multiple projects in the past, including The Suicide Squad, The Belko Experiment and even the web series that Gunn did with his brothers, PG Porn.

So, let’s talk a little bit about James Gunn and Zack Snyder’s history. The two of them actually go way back. I’m pretty sure you already knew that. In 2004, Snyder directed a movie called Dawn Of The Dead. This movie was actually written by James Gunn. The two of them worked very closely on the film, and it ended up being bloody brilliant. If you haven’t seen the film yet, I highly recommend it.

Whilst working on the movie, Gunn and Snyder became close and became friends. The two of them have remained close ever since. Gunn actually revealed that he asked Snyder for a stunt coordinator recommendation whilst making the first season of Peacemaker. Gunn ended up hiring stunt coordinator Wayne Dalglish after Snyder’s recommendation.

Could Gunn restore the SnyderVerse?

So, now that we know that Gunn and Snyder are friends and have worked together in the past, could this mean that Gunn, as the new head of DC Studios, could restore the SnyderVerse? Well, this is probably the best chance Snyder and his many fans online have ever had. Now, I’m not saying that the SnyderVerse will be restored, but I think that the odds of that happening are a lot better now than before Gunn was appointed as one of the co-CEOs of DC Studios.

We’re going to have to wait and see what ends up happening, but I think that if you’ve been calling for the SnyderVerse to be brought back from the dead, you might end up jumping for joy within the next few months… maybe years. There has been a lot of good news for us SnyderVerse fans in the last few months.

We’re getting Henry Cavill’s Superman back. It’s also been revealed that we’re going to get to see more of Ben Affleck Batman in The Flash and Aquaman 2 movies. There have also been rumours that Affleck has signed on to star in a new Batman trilogy. So, all good things ahead for us DC Comics fans! What do you think?
