David Ayer has now come out and revealed that his cut of the DC Comics movie, Suicide Squad, is just as dark as Todd Philipps’ Joker film.
There’s been a lot of chatter about a potential David Ayer cut of Suicide Squad coming to HBO Max.
This was kickstarted by the news that HBO Max is going to be releasing the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League.
Just before Suicide Squad was released, it was reported that the movie had been heavily edited and underwent extensive reshoots.
This was supposedly due to the fact that David Ayer’s movie was just too dark.
Ayer has now revealed via Twitter that this was indeed the case.

Here’s what Ayer wrote on Twitter about his cut of Suicide Squad:
This was reshot because the tone was ‘too dark’ – My first act was a normally constructed film. I took my inspiration from Nolan. There were real scenes with incredible acting between Jared and Margot. Joker was terrifying. Harley was complex.
People are now clamouring on Twitter for Warner Bros. Pictures to ‘release the Ayer cut’ of Suicide Squad.
Honestly, after reading what he had to say about his version of the movie, I really want to see it.
