Could Warner Bros. Picture end up releasing the David Ayer cut of Suicide Squad to HBO Max after revealing that Zack Snyder’s Justice League is coming?
The news that Warner Bros was bringing Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League to HBO Max was huge.
This was the result of years of fan pressure. People have been asking for Warner Bros to release the Snyder cut for ages.
It almost feels as if fans have been demanding the Snyder cut ever since Justice League was released in cinemas.
As far as David Ayer’s Suicide Squad is concerned, there hasn’t been such a huge demand.
However, now that fans know Warner Bros can release the director’s cuts of their DC Comics movies, we’re thinking, ‘Why not release Ayer’s cut of Suicide Squad?’
When the movie came out in 2016, I was personally shocked by how poor the movie ended up being.
I remember watching the first trailer for the movie and I thought it genuinely looked pretty interesting.
The movie ended up being really dull and pretty poorly made.

That said, I don’t think the blame lies with Ayer.
Ayer’s been very vocal about how the movie that was released wasn’t his initial vision for the Suicide Squad.
He recently revealed that his cut of Suicide Squad was darker than the movie that came out.
He likened it recently on Twitter to Todd Phillips’ Joker movie, which sounds pretty interesting to me.
Ayer wrote: “This was reshot because the tone was “too dark” – My first act was a normally constructed film. I took my inspiration from Nolan. There were real scenes with incredible acting between Jared and Margot. Joker was terrifying. Harley was complex.”
It sounds to me as if Ayer’s cut of the movie is much more interesting than the film we got.
I remember right before the film came out, it was reported that Warner Bros saw how popular the film’s trailer had been and panicked.
They panicked because the movie that Ayer had made was much darker than the trailers they released.
Therefore, they ended up hiring the company who cut the trailers to cut Ayer’s movie. The result was not good.

The movie that was released in cinemas ended up being really disjointed.
It felt like a bunch of music videos all squashed together in one movie.
There were about six different beginning to the movie.
It felt like every time a new character was introduced the movie started all over again.
Then the movie’s editing was really bizarre. It was very choppy and I really don’t think that Ayer’s cut would have been edited so poorly.
It’s a shame for Ayer because I think he’s made some really interesting and well-made movies.
There was so much potential with Suicide Squad, but it was ruined by studio interference.
As far as the David Ayer cut of Suicide Squad is concerned, I think he deserves the chance to release the movie he wanted to make.
People should get to see Ayer’s vision for Suicide Squad, and I think HBO Max is the perfect place to release directors’ cuts of movies.

We already know that Zack Snyder’s Justice League is coming to HBO Max.
Why not release David Ayer’s cut of Suicide Squad to the platform?
I don’t think we’re going to see directors’ cuts of any other DC Comics movies on the streaming platform.
The other movies went pretty smoothly and were actually well received on the most part.
The likes of Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Shazam! were all pretty much the movies the directors wanted to make.
Justice League and Suicide Squad were the two DC Comics movies that really suffered from studio meddling.
Hopefully, we’ll get to see the movie Ayer intended to make.
