It’s now being reported that Daniel Kaluuya, star of Get Out and Black Panther, is in line to replace Jodie Whittaker as the next Doctor in Doctor Who Season 14. This rumour comes from We Got This Covered, so do take it with a big pinch of salt.
That said, there’s a lot to like about this casting rumour. I personally think Daniel Kaluuya would end up being the best actor ever to play the role, and I’m including the likes of David Tennant, Matt Smith and Christopher Eccleston in that list.
However, there’s also that nagging voice in the back of my head saying that Kaluuya is too well known to play the role. The role doesn’t always go to newcomers, but the actors who take the role tend to be a bit less known than when they leave the role. Take the likes of David Tennant and Matt Smith for example. They’re pretty big names now, and they weren’t when they were cast in the show.
Daniel Kaluuya make a brilliant Doctor in Doctor Who

It was revealed by The Mirror’s sources that Jodie Whittaker is going to be leaving the show after Doctor Who Season 13. This comes after she delivered an incredible performance in the recent New Year’s Day special, Revolution of the Daleks.
However, those reports have yet to be confirmed by the BBC. In fact, they’re refusing to comment on them at the moment. I’m pretty sure they’re right. Not just because I used to work at The Mirror and I know they don’t make this sort of stuff up. It’s also because it makes sense. There were rumours that Whittaker’s agent wanted her to leave, so it seems as though her agents’ had his or her way.
As for Daniel Kaluuya stepping in to play the Doctor, I’d love it to be true, but I think he’s too big to take on the role. I think it would end up going to someone who’s now quite as well known as Kaluuya.
