Constantine Rumoured To Be In Netflix’s The Sandman – But He Won’t Be Played By Matt Ryan

It’s being reported that Netflix’s upcoming The Sandman TV series will feature John Constantine but he won’t be played by Matt Ryan. This new report comes from Geekosity’s Mikey Sutton and Constantine fans might not be happy to hear it.

Matt Ryan played the DC Comics character in The CW’s Constantine TV show and fans have been hoping to see him return to play the character for some time now. We did get to see him in the likes of Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and even Batwoman.

He was also in a crossover episode and had a pretty cool scene with Lucifer’s Tom Ellis which was fun to see. However, Sutton is claiming that he won’t be playing the character in Netflix’s The Sandman. The Sandman is going to be an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s frankly brilliant comic book series.

I recently finished the series myself, and I can safely say that they are some of the best comics I’ve ever read. One character that plays a small role in the comics is John Constantine. He helps The Sandman to retrieve his magic sand after he was trapped for years by a human.

Moreover, Sutton also added that Keanu Reeves won’t be playing the role either. Reeves played Constantine in the 2005 movie. There has been talk of a sequel, but that’s just been talk at the moment. Hopefully, they’ll make it one day. We’re going to have to wait and see.

Sutton also revealed that Doctor Destiny will be in the show, as well as some other DC Comics characters. That is to be expected since they are also in the comics.

Doctor Destiny plays a pretty important part at the beginning of the comic book series, and almost gets the better of The Sandman. However, you can’t really beat the Ruler of the Dreamworld, can you?
