It’s being reported that Collateral 2 is in the works, with actor Jamie Foxx returning to play the character he played in the first movie. Just in case you forgot, Foxx starred in the first film alongside Tom Cruise and the movie was directed by the legendary filmmaker, Michael Mann.
The first movie featured Foxx as a cab driver called Max, who picks up a mysterious man, played by Tom Cruise, who offers him $600 to drive him around. But the promise of easy money sours when Max realizes his fare is an assassin.
Honestly, the first Collateral movie is just brilliant, but I am finding it rather hard to figure out what could happen in a second film. The first movie, which was released back in 2004, was very much a ‘one and done’ sort of thing, and I didn’t really see the need to make a sequel.
However, it sounds as though the writers have come up with something rather interesting and exciting for a second movie, and Foxx is looking to return as Max in it.

So, this news comes to us via Giant Freakin Robot, and their report claims that Michael Mann will also return to direct the picture. However, they do state that they have no details on what could happen in this new picture.
They also make it clear that they aren’t quite sure what could happen in a Collateral 2, either. It’s a bit of a mystery to me. However, it must be said that Michael Mann has shown interest in doing sequels to his iconic films.
He actually wrote a sequel to Heat, simply titled Heat 2, and released it as a book. I haven’t read the book yet, but I’ve heard nothing but good things about it, and there have been rumours that Hollywood wants to turn it into a movie.
Could Tom Cruise return for a second movie?

If you’re asking yourselves whether Tom Cruise could be set for a return as the mysterious assassin in the sequel, my best guess is no, he won’t. This is all to do with the way in which the first movie ended.
However, what could the second movie be about? Could Max end up picking up another mysterious assassin in his Taxi cab…? Somehow, I doubt it. I have a feeling that the second film could be more about the ramifications of the first one.
Basically, Foxx’s character will end up being embroiled in some sort of mysterious plot that has to do with Cruise’s character’s antics from the first movie. What I’m going to do now is go back and rewatch the first movie and see whether there’s any real possibility of a story for a second film.
It won’t be easy, but I’m going to give it my very best show. Let me know if you have any ideas for a possible story for Collateral 2 in the comments.

Rated in my personal top 3 best action thriller movies of all time, I always imagined the reality of the landscape and how efficiently law enforcement is able to investigate utilizing tech within a cities infrastructure. Having a background in security and military; my best guess in short form is Max and Annie become the remaining targets for the cartel while in WITSEC.
