There’s been a lot of chatter on the Internet in the past few days about the upcoming Star Trek 4, and some people have been wondering whether Chris Hemsworth will finally join the movie.
Well, it seems as though he won’t, but that doesn’t mean we should rule out his return to the Star Trek franchise in the future.
According to We Got This Covered (make of that what you will), Chris Hemsworth still plans to return to the Star Trek franchise in the future as Captain Kirk’s father, just not in Star Trek 4.
There had been reports that Paramount Pictures wanted both Chrises (Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pine) to star in Star Trek 4, but there were disagreements over pay, and the idea fell through.
We then recently learnt that Paramount Pictures had hired Noah Hawley to write and direct Star Trek 4, which is a great choice if you ask me.
Hawley is responsible for bringing the Fargo and Legion TV shows to life, and he’s shown how talented he is with those shows.
It looks like Hemsworth won’t be in Star Trek 4, but he might be in the franchise again in the future

He does remind me an awful lot of J.J. Abrams in the sense that he cut his teeth in television and he’s now making the move over to the big screen.
He’s a very exciting director and writer and I really do think that Star Trek is the perfect vehicle for him.
Anyway, back to Chris Hemsworth being in an upcoming Star Trek movie. Yes, so it sounds like Hemsworth could be making a comeback, but he will not be turning up in Star Trek 4.
Hopefully, Paramount Pictures and his agents will be able to work something out soon, because I’d love to see the Aussie return to the franchise in which he appeared in for about five minutes, but they were a very memorable five minutes.
