Tom Hardy did a lot of MMA and Kickboxing in preparation to play Venom. Watch him train in the behind the scenes video below.
Tom Hardy’s never been one to shy away from changing his body drastically for his roles. Just look at how he beefed up for The Dark Knight Rises and Warrior and he shed a lot of weight for The Revenant. The guy takes his craft very seriously and wants to physically morph into his characters. He’s doing the same thing with the Venom movie.
Hardy will be playing Eddie Brock in this Sony Picture Spider-Man spin-off movie. Eddie goes through a massive physical and mental transformation when he comes into contact with the parasitic alien, Venom, and subsequently turns into a huge and hulking monster. In order to be able to play Venom, Hardy did a lot of MMA and Kickboxing training. You can watch some of his training in the behind the scene video below in which his coaches talk about Hardy’s dedication. It looks gruelling!
Venom is basically the antithesis to Spider-Man and represents everything that the wall-crawler fights against, yet there are some story arcs in the comic books in which Venom becomes a sort of hero, an anti-hero if you will. This might be the case in the Venom movie, yet very little is known about the film’s plot. Venom is being directed by Zombieland’s Ruben Fleischer who will be working off a script from Scott Rosenberg, Jeff Pinkner and Kelly Marcel.
The movie’s set for an October 5th, 2018 release date and I cannot wait to see Hardy in action. Do you like the look of the Venom movie? Let us know in the comments below.
