Charlize Theron Is ‘Heartbroken’ At Having Been Replaced As Furiosa In Mad Max Prequel

It was announced that the upcoming Mad Max prequel wouldn’t feature Charlize Theron as Furiosa and she’s revealed that she’s “heartbroken” about it.

OK, so I think it’s now common knowledge that Mad Max: Fury Road is one of, if not the best action movie ever made.

The film took years to make and it’s a miracle it was ever released, but somehow George Miller managed to pull it off.

It’s no secret that it was a very difficult shoot in Australia and Theron and Tom Hardy didn’t always see eye-to-eye.

Anyway, it was revealed a while back that Miller was going to be making a Mad Max: Fury Road prequel movie.

This one would be about Furiosa’s beginnings – kind of her origin story – however, Charlize Theron won’t be in it.

She revealed during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter that she was “heartbroken” about this.

Charlize Theron isn’t happy about not playing Furiosa in the next Mad Max movie

Here’s what she told the publication about being left out of the movie:

Yeah, it’s a little heartbreaking, for sure. I really love that character, and I’m so grateful that I had a small part in creating her. She will forever be someone that I think of, and reflect on fondly. Obviously, I would love to see that story continue, and if he feels like he has to go about it this way, then I trust him in that manner. We get so hung up on the smaller details that we forget the thing that we emotionally tap into has nothing to do with that minute thing that we’re focusing on.

Honestly, I am really surprised and a bit upset that Theron’s not involved in this prequel Furiosa movie.

She was a big part of why the character worked in the first place.

Her performance in Mad Max: Fury Road will go down as one of the best action movie performances of all time.
