The new trailer for Chaos Walking starring Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland and Star Wars’ Rey, Daisy Ridley, has been released. Honestly, I’m really not convinced by this trailer, but there are some interesting scenes.
This new movie is based on the YA novel, The Knife Of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. Lionsgate purchased the rights to this book back when all movie studios were snapping them up. That was mainly due to the ridiculous popularity of The Hunger Games franchise.
It’s taken them a long time to get this movie to the big screen, but it looks like it’s finally coming (if COVID-19 will let it). It’s going to be interesting to see how this movie does at the box office given the fact that people were burnt out by YA movies a while back.
There’s also the fact that we’re still in the midst of a global pandemic. People might not want to go back to cinemas even when they’ve opened again.

Chaos Walking will also feature Mads Mikkelsen, Cynthia Erivo, Nick Jonas, Ray McKinnon, Kurt Sutter, and David Oyelow. As for the film’s plot, it will follow Ridley and Holland’s characters who end up going on a very dangerous adventure together in the badlands of a new and unexplored planet.
However, they’re also trying to escape a dangerous and disorienting reality, where all inner thoughts are seen and heard by everyone. Chaos Walking is directed by Doug Liman, with Patrick Ness and Christopher Ford having written the film’s screenplay.
The film had finished principle photography back in August 2017, yet things were brought back to the drawing board after a series of terrible test screenings in which the film was called “unreleasable”. They ended up doing reshoots of the film in 2018, and they then ended up getting Don’t Breathe director Fede Alvarez to help finish directing the movie.
Yet, with Ridley and Holland’s incredibly busy schedules (due to the fact they were both filming movies which were part of the biggest franchises ever – Star Wars and the MCU) meant that those reshoots took a while.
However, Chaos Walking is now slated for release on January 22nd, 2021. That said, the Coronavirus pandemic might put yet another delay on the movie.
