Yep, it’s that time of year again. It’s that time of the year when Hollywood loves to hand out awards to itself. However, this year’s Oscars are going to be pretty different because of a whole bunch of reasons: the pandemic is one of them, but Chadwick Boseman’s passing is another.
It’s just been revealed that Chadwick Boseman has received his very first Oscar nomination for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which is a film you can stream right now on Netflix.
He was nominated in the Best Actor category, but he faces some incredibly tough competition.
He’s up against Riz Ahmed for Sound of Metal, Anthony Hopkins for The Father, Gary Oldman for Mank, and Steven Yeun for his performance in Minari.
Personally, I’m pretty certain Chadwick will win the Best Actor award on the night, and his wife, Taylor Simone Ledward will accept the award on his behalf, just like she did at the Golden Globes.
She delivered an incredible speech at the globes, and I’m also certain she’ll deliver another touching and profound one at the Oscars as well.

Just as it was at the Golden Globes, it’ll be a bittersweet moment, and it’ll most definitely bring back memories of Heath Ledger’s Oscar win for his performance in The Dark Knight.
Ledger had also very sadly passed away before he was nominated for his incredible performance and it’s just such a heartbreaking thing to see happen.
