Fans of The Mandalorian are now calling for Lana Parrilla to replace Gina Carano as Cara Dune in the Star Wars show and any other ones after that. This comes after Gina Carano was fired by Lucasfilm following some posts she shared on social media.
Lana Parrilla has appeared in quite a few TV shows over the years. She’s been in the likes of Spin City, 24, Once Upon A Time, Boomtown and Swingtown to name but a few of the shows she’s tuned up in. Fans are now suggesting that she would be the perfect replacement for Gina Carano as Cara Dune in the Star Wars live-action shows. They’ve now started a petition on Change.org.
As for Gina Carano being fired by Disney, here’s what a spokesperson from Lucasfilm had to say about Gina Carano no longer being employed by Lucasfilm: “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
Gina played Cara Dune in the first two seasons of The Mandalorian and it did look like we were going to see more of her in the Star Wars show, and potentially even the spinoff show, Rangers Of The New Republic.

Here’s what was written on the Change.org petition to have Lana Parrilla to replace Gina Carano as Cara Dune in the Star Wars shows:
Gina Carano has finally been fired for her abhorrent racist and transphobic remarks. However, it leaves the role of Cara Dune open-ended. Should her character simply disappear, be killed off, or are the shoes just the right size for another? Perhaps Lana Parilla, one of the lead’s in ABC’s “Once Upon A Time.” She’s no stranger to Disney and would fit the role perfectly. Lana would be a great addition alongside Pedro Pascal & co.
Carano was fired after she shared a Tik Tok post comparison of the divided political climate to Nazi Germany. “Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbours…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbours hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views,” she wrote.
