We already knew that Captain Marvel 2 was going to happen at Marvel Studios, but we just didn’t know when it’ll get started.
There were actually quite a lot of things we didn’t know about the sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel.
The first film did pretty well at the box office, but it got a lot of flack from supposed Marvel movie fans.
I guess Marvel fans just aren’t ready for a female-lead Marvel movie (just kidding).
There were a few issues with the film, but despite those slight imperfections, I still loved the movie and had a great time at the cinema watching it
Anyway, the film made enough money to warrant a sequel and we’ve now been told that Captain Marvel 2 is officially in development and it will take place in the present day.
This news comes from The Hollywood Reporter who also revealed that WandaVision’s writer Megan McDonnell is going to pen the script.

As for Captain Marvel’s directors, it’s been reported that Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who also co-wrote the first movie, won’t be returning for Captain Marvel 2.
I’m quite sad about that because I really don’t think the movie’s flaws are down to them.
However, Marvel Studios is already looking for a replacement director, and it’s being reported that they’re interested in hiring female filmmakers.
I wonder whether Lulu Wang might be up for the gig. I’ll write more about that in a subsequent article.
